Often we don’t know that having the fear of the Lord has benefits. But we trust that this will open our eyes to fear God and also to love Him.

Let me begin this way, I sincerely bless the day Fayokemi Oliyide posted this scripture Psalms 112 online and it has really been of great help to me.
Now, let’s look at the benefits right way.
Psalms 112:1

 Praise the Lord!

How joyful are those who fear the Lord

    and delight in obeying his commands.

It is a joyful thing to fear the Lord though our flesh may not love it but it is a joyful thing to fear Him. You can’t fear God except you become a man that takes delight in the command or the word of God. Remember it was said that a blessed man takes his delight in the word of God,

Psalms  1:1 BLESSED IS THE MAN that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

1:2 BUT HIS(THE BLESSED MAN’S) DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Now there is a connection between a blessed man and a righteous man. You’re not blessed unless you’re a righteous man. A righteous man is the man that takes delight in the word of God. When you see a righteous man you identify him that way and surely you’ll understand that such is blessed.

Let’s see another benefit

Psalms 112:2

Their children will be successful everywhere;

    an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.

I love this, God we receive grace to stand in righteousness. The world has defined a blessed man for us but the order has changed. This scriptures talks about their children. One thing about a righteous man or a blessed man is that you need to check their children. The blessing always touch them, look at Abraham that’s why we have the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, there is a flow of that righteousness and blessedness from their father to the children that’s how to identify a blessed. It says they are successful everywhere, there is no place you place their children they will become successful there, now look at Isaac he sow and had much in the time of famine. Everywhere he dig there was always water so much that they fought him, it was not about the digging but about the blessing upon him. Of course you saw what that scripture ends with the entire generation of godly people is blessed, I want that!

To look again, Psalm 112:3

They themselves will be wealthy,

    and their good deeds will last forever.

I’m loving this right now, it says they themselves will be wealthy and their good deeds last forever. You know why? It’s because the Bible says the memory of the righteous is blessed, glory to God.

 Proverbs  10:7  THE MEMORY OF THE JUST IS BLESSED: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Their deeds will last forever there is nothing you can do about the blessing of Abraham it will last forever! A blessed man good deeds has the capacity to span forever not for a while but forever.

Lets consider another one. Psalms 112:4

Light shines in the darkness for the godly.

    They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.

5 Good comes to those who lend money generously

    and conduct their business fairly.

6 Such people will not be overcome by evil.

    Those who are righteous will be long remembered.

To join this thought together, the people that fear the Lord has their code of conduct whether in business or in any area they won’t lose their value of blessedness for money or anything. They stay under the guide of the blessing that stays over their and this will make them to be remembered because scriptures again repeated it. They are the type that are given to alms, they don’t neglect the word of God or overlook the poor, they operate by the blessedness that they bear.

Let’s see another benefit. Psalms 112:7

They do not fear bad news;

    they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

8 They are confident and fearless

    and can face their foes triumphantly.

One part that I also love about this scripture is this verse 7, evil reports are everywhere that could make the heart to think and want to lose hope in God but a righteous man do not fear evil report or bad news they are given to God’s care, they are confidently sure that God will take care of them. Maybe our lack of trust is because we no longer fear God. They face their challenges to the face, the Bible says the righteous is as bold as a lion.

Finally let see another benefit. Psalms 112:9

They share freely and give generously to those in need.

    Their good deeds will be remembered forever.

    They will have influence and honor.

10 The wicked will see this and be infuriated.

    They will grind their teeth in anger;

    they will slink away, their hopes thwarted.

I’ll just say a few thing then highlight the verses. The identity of a blessed and righteous man is that he gives with a cheerful heart. He understands the point of blessing that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Again this scripture says they will be remembered. Many look for influence today by all means but when you remain a man that fears God,  influence will automatically come seeking you.
The highlights…

1. They share freely and give generously to those in need.

2. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.

3. They will have influence and honor.

Then it begins to talk about the wicked, to me is the devil.
4. The wicked will see this and be infuriated.

5. They will grind their teeth in anger;

6. they will slink away, their hopes thwarted.
That’s the benefit of being a righteous man, a man that fears the Lord. Keep walking in the fear of the Lord.
