I have seen some people run from taking the Holy communion or to feast with the Lord’s body, I know we some times have our reasons. But Jesus said that, he that does not take part in this does not have life in Him.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, YE HAVE NO LIFE IN YOU.

When a man does not participate in the communion, he has no life in Him, it’s simple. I believe we need life in us more, we need to partake of the communion. Let’s see further

6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, HATH ETERNAL LIFE; and I will raise him up at the last day.

You notice the stress and how He opened it up more by saying, the life am talking about is Eternal Life. You know Jesus has the power to give Eternal life and also to give it abundantly?

John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should GIVE ETERNAL LIFE TO AS MANY AS THOU HAST GIVEN HIM.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they MIGHT HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.

So in partaking in the communion we partake in His life also abundantly. Jesus was clear about feasting on His body, He said if you don’t eat of my body and drink of my blood you have no life in you. Then again he said one beautiful thing we ought to carefully notice, He said I will raise him up the last day, Jesus is clear with His words. You have Eternal life and I will raise you up the last day, the operation of raising a man up is by that life he got by feasting with the Lord’s body. It’s important.
Let’s see further..

6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

Partaking at the table of the feast of Jesus is an engagement with His life, an identification that we dwell in Him and Him in us. So when you lost confidence of whether you are in Him or not go and take the Holy communion or feast with the Lord’s body. Make your way right and take the Holy communion, there will be renewal of your identity with Him again.

Now this too must be understood on discerning the Lord’s body at the table of the Lord. I believe this is why alot run from taking the communion, often as an excuse, some say am not yet baptised so I can’t take it. Well, I believe you also need to be baptized and also whether baptised or not take the Holy communion. The truth is also go and get baptised by immersion in water is important by that you identify with His death and burial and also His resurrection.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as WERE BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH?

6:4 Therefore we are BURIED WITH HIM BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH: THAT LIKE AS CHRIST WAS RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in NEWNESS OF LIFE.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that RAISED UP CHRIST FROM THE DEAD shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

2 Corinthians 13:4 For though HE WAS CRUCIFIED THROUGH WEAKNESS, YET HE LIVETH BY THE POWER OF GOD. For we also are weak in him, but WE SHALL LIVE WITH HIM BY THE POWER OF GOD toward you.

Glory to God! Those are scriptures to help us see the need for baptism by immersion in water.

Alright let’s push further, the essence of taking the Holy communion is to do such in remembrance of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

We must also remember that when taking the communion we are remembering the Lord. This tells also that we show the Lord’s death till He comes.

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, UNWORTHILY, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

That word, UNWORTHILY is very important. From the Greek word it means in an unworthy manner or irreverently- which means to show lack of respect for someone or to treat someone or something in a way that is not serious or respectful. You see that? And that’s how the father’s took it and they died.

6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: NOT AS YOUR FATHERS DID EAT MANNA, AND ARE DEAD: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

So, it means we need a revelation of what we are taking, it must be taking with reverence and with understanding. Let’s move straight to touch discerning the Lord’s body and then we wrap it up together with one more benefit of feasting with the Lord’s body.

Let’s see it in the New Living Translation.

1 Corinthians 11:28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup.

11:29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup WITHOUT HONOURING THE BODY OF CHRIST, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself.

11:30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died.

You see that, examine yourself, I know we may think quickly to sin, yes, is part of it, if we have any sin, repent and receive forgiveness and then take the communion, and also examine yourself by honouring the Lord and stand on the revelation of the body of Whom you are feasting on. That’s how to take the communion worthily. You discern His body by understanding the ground at which you are taking it, the revelation you dare to stand upon to take it. That’s it!

Finally, one great benefit I usually go with in my heart is on this note. When Jesus walked the earth when He rose again and walked with some folks, they never know Him until He brake the bread, so there are things you may never see or come into until you break the bread. Let me some you in a minute.

Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

(Please permit me to jump, you can read the other verses later so this article will not be much)

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and SLOW OF HEART to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at MEAT WITH THEM, HE TOOK BREAD, AND BLESSED IT, AND BRAKE, AND GAVE TO THEM.

24:31 AND THEIR EYES WERE OPENED, AND THEY KNEW HIM; and he vanished out of their sight.

24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Some entrances will not be ministered to us until we break the bread. Even some ideas will begin to flood into our hearts as we brake the bread. If we go with the mind that, we are remembering the Lord as we take it, and that we have Eternal Life in us as we partake of it, and we dwell in Him and Him in us as we feast with His body and blood and also that our eyes will be opened as we eat the Lord, this will make us to even want to feast with the Lord daily. The Bible says as often… It never said it should just be a particular day. It is as often, so don’t stop in the church you can also break the bread in your family altars everyday, as often…

1 Corinthians 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, AS OFT AS ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Keep walking and enjoying the blessedness of the communion.
