I know to some, this should have been best titled: the benefit of praying in the spirit, well, the topic is intentional in the sense that when we pray we must be aware that we are praying with the Spirit of God. A lot of times we lost that or we tend to forget that we are praying together with God’s Spirit as we pray. The intention of this, is to make us see and be more aware when praying that we are praying with the Spirit of God and we are helped of the Lord. Amen.

When we learn to pray with the Spirit of God, He will channel our prayers to right places if we allow Him. It’s like a child missing a step or needs direction and then by receiving or allowing help of someone wiser than him, he gets into the right way. We can’t even pray best without the help of the Spirit of God, that’s why we are often encouraged to pray in the Spirit. Some times we pray in the Spirit and we are not been intentional about it, there is often no focus in the heart while praying. We must know that praying with a focus is like hitting the rock at a certain place in other to see it break. I love wrestlers, when fighting with an opponent, once they hit their opponents in a place, they will just focus on that place till the person is weak. That’s how it should be when praying, you keep hitting the place harder in the Spirit and many times as you hit it harder, the tongue changes or the prayer is fired up the more. It’s so that you won’t be beating about the air, but with a focus!

1 Corinthians 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, NOT AS ONE THAT BEATETH THE AIR:

We must understand that prayer need focus and most importantly our heart must be there. It’s so great when praying with the Spirit of God, and praying in the spirit having a scripture placed in your spirit, it’s such a help that aid our prayers.
Many times we don’t know what we should pray for as we ought to, even the fervent and effectual prayer are not done as expected, else the need for the Spirit of God as we pray.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but THE SPIRIT ITSELF MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US WITH GROANINGS WHICH CANNOT BE UTTERED.

8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because HE MAKETH INTERCESSION for the saints ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD.

If there is something to learn in this scriptures is to also learn how to pray with the Spirit of God. We need to learn to also pray for one another. Our prayers are ineffective without the help of the Spirit of God. We dearly needs His help. Some times when praying, I receive some things or some scriptures comes to mind, at that point am receiving help. Some times it may be to pray for someone or to pray for a particular need for myself. Praying with the Spirit of God makes us aware of what to pray for, He reveals them to us. Often you even pray it better as it should be.

God must help us to pray with the Spirit of God, it’s so important. The Spirit of God help us to brings our heart to things that are hidden. Things that are searched are mostly hidden. You know there are things that are hidden in Christ.

Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the MYSTERY OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;

Things are hidden in Christ, the word of God calls them the treasure of wisdom and knowledge. You can’t find them yourself. That’s why we need to learn always to pray with the Spirit of God. We see Paul praying about this.

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIS WILL IN ALL WISDOM AND SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING;

These are found in Christ. That’s why we need to learn Christ.

Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

We saw Paul praying again about that wisdom and knowledge hidden in Christ.

Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM:

1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the RICHES of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Paul called this things RICHES! It is the riches of Christ.
Isaiah talked about treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places.

Isaiah 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

Think for a moment, it’s in the dark places, how will you see it, you need light! We need the light of Christ to see, you can’t desire it until light comes to your heart. Yet the Lord said He will give us. There are things we provoke or bring to come to pass by praying them or receiving them in our Spirit through prayers, it’s done by praying with the Spirit of God. We need Him. You can’t pray these things without the help of the Spirit of God.
Comforting enough we see that that Spirit of God searches all things. We need that Spirit that search all things to pray with Him always with our deep hunger.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? EVEN SO THE THINGS OF GOD KNOWETH NO MAN, BUT THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

You see, I acknowledge this word of God in my life! It has been revealed to us and we need to desire the deep things of God, yes, we need the Spirit of God to help us as we pray to search them out for us in our heart. Prayer becomes sweet and more of a fellowship with God when we learn to pray with the Spirit of God. Please I like you to be aware of the Holy Ghost when praying that’s my intention. We need that Spirit of God. I remember telling someone about something she intended to keep that I saw, she was surprised, and it blessed her to know. It was revealed by the Spirit of God. Things of God must be revealed to us. Revelation therefore is needful in the place of prayers. We need the Spirit of God to reveal the things of God to us.

Now let me bless you with this, do you know the things that are above where Christ is seated?

3:2 SET your affection on THINGS ABOVE, not on things on the earth.

That’s why we need the Spirit of God while praying, it must be revealed so that our hearts can be placed on it and stay on those things above. Yet we find out that it is God’s desire to give us these things that are above and are of the kingdom of God.

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your FATHER’S GOOD PLEASURE TO GIVE you the kingdom.

Since it’s the Father’s desire to give it to us then let’s pray for it. Let pray to receive them. In fact Jesus said it Himself that the Holy Ghost will be the medium by which these things will be revealed to us!

John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that HE SHALL TAKE OF MINE, AND SHALL SHEW IT UNTO YOU.

Note the word TAKE! He shall take of mine and He will show it to us, the Spirit of God is the shower of those things by the help of God through Christ. His purpose is to show those things of Christ to us. Remember He said He said take of Mine and He will show it to us and whatever is of Christ is of God and whatever is of God is of Christ, so the Holy Ghost just show them to us, to knows what’s happening. Jesus said it.

John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

Now these things they are of Christ, hence we need the Spirit of God as we pray.

God can spare anything for His people, as long as they ask in the place of prayers with the help of the Spirit of God. He has once spared His only begotten Son, and what we are asking for, we are not paying any money for it, it is free but we need His Spirit to get them through prayers.

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS?

The truth is until we see the importance of praying with the Spirit of God in prayers we may never value prayer as it ought to be. The Holy Ghost is the One that birth deep hunger in us while praying. We can’t stay enough in prayers without the help of the Holy Spirit. We must learn to pray with the Spirit of God as we pray. When you pray in tongues or in understanding learn to always be conscious of praying with Him. Let’s give the Spirit of God the chance to lead us as we pray, He knows our need and knows how to channel our hearts to pray them rightly. You may just sense in your spirit while praying about something, just follow the gear of the Lord in your heart. You can’t pray off track when praying with the Spirit of God, because He will channel or direct your heart to always pray the will of the Father. We are helped! Keep walking as you pray with God’s Spirit daily.
