Judges 6:12 KJV “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”
When God calls, He calls us out of fear into the Faith. Many at times, God comes to brings us out of the bondage of fear which has bound all men in death, and initiates in us faith, so we can walk thus. Fear is limiting factor, but when God calls, faith is birth in us.
In fear, we are not confident to move to do things we ought to do. Like Gideon, He had experienced the destructive tendencies of the Midianites that had lasted for years. He and most of the Israelites were ladened with fear such that they hide in caves for to be safe. In fact, scriptures record that at that time, “Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.”
Earlier, we have been told that the Midianites sought to destroy the Isralites and even successfully destroyed their farm produce for about seven years. And this has caused to the children of Israel to run into caves, dens and inside mountain to hide. Gideon also was bound in fear like others but God saw something different. God saw a mighty man of valour.
When God calls, He calls us into faith. His words releases us from the hold of fear that has crippled our ability to advance in life by declaring to us the faith enough to propel us to greatness. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. And this we must also know that when God calls, He calls to “deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:15.
Fear is a culture of living that men has learnt to live by. Lives have been tutored and schooled to live by fear. And that’s why people out of fear think and plan for tomorrow. Man cannot learn to live in total dependence on God. But in the Kingdom, faith is reestablished in us, hence, Jesus says, “Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Take therefore no thought for the morrow:….” Matthew 6:25, 34.
When God calls, He calls us to live by faith, hence live thus “for the just shall live by faith.” God bless you.
