One thing we must appreciate is that there are benefits in serving the Lord.

Psalms  103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his BENEFITS:

103:3 Who FORGIVETH ALL THINE INIQUITIES; who healeth all thy diseases;

103:4 Who REDEEMETH THY LIFE FROM DESTRUCTION; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

To concentrate just on one of it, Ayo Oliyide already have written a good piece on it this passage.

He forgives us when we confess  our sins to Him but there is a part of it that seems we have not concentrated on, we all know He forgives us, we have not known the other part which we see in

1 John  1:9 IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.

It’s a conditional statement, IF, if we confess our sins…
God is not just JUST to forgive us our sins, but there’s one interesting thing He does which must make us to confess our sins to Him, which is, He cleanse us from all unrighteousness, what that means is, if we confess our sins, He forgives us and by that forgiveness also He cleanses us from all our unrighteousness. If He is able and just to forgive us, then He able and just also to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.

Remember His words is also a cleansing for us and it’s always now!

John  15:3  NOW YE ARE CLEAN through the WORD which I have spoken unto you.

As believers we may be trapped in sin due to our lust but we need to be sincere to the Lord and confess them to Him knowing that God is ready to forgive us because He’s our Advocate.

Psalms  86:5  FOR THOU, LORD, ART GOOD, AND READY TO FORGIVE; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

1 John  2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. AND IF ANY MAN SIN, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

This is  not intended to encourage sin. It’s to open our eyes for the cleansing. Many have sinned and feel God can never forgive them, and then stay in that sin, and the wicked one comes to tell them, you that you’re so anointed, having done this, God can never forgive you. Remember he is the father of lies and there is no truth in him. Jesus talking to the Jews about the devil

John  8:44  Ye are of your father THE DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and ABODE NOT IN THE TRUTH, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM . When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

So you see, we are not of his. We belong to God and we are His children. So when we sin, we must learn to come to Him. No father leaves his child to his sin especially when he comes for repentance. He’s ready to forgive us. This is not to encourage sin. Just look at it, for you who keep falling into sin, Jesus said to Peter to forgive people 70 times 7 times, then be sure He’s ready to forgive you. My emphasis is clear, which is when we sin, He forgives us and also cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We know that all unrighteousness is sin. So He’s set to cleanse us from it when we confess our sins.

We see another part of confession of sin one to another.

James  5:16 CONFESS YOUR FAULTS ONE TO ANOTHER, AND PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER, THAT YE MAY BE HEALED. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

You see, what confession of sin one to another does is to heal us. That heal there  means to cure, to make whole, to free from errors and sins and  to bring about one’s salvation. So you see, we must learn to confess our sins to God and to one another. You may say people will hear my matter, you can speak  or confess to a trusted one. And actually we are not not suppose to speak about one another sin when confessed to us. That place added to also pray for one another. Confession of our sins brings healing to us, it brings cleansing to us.

Also, mercy comes in our confession of sins and not in covering it before God.

Proverbs  28:13  He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but WHOSO CONFESSETH AND FORSAKETH THEM SHALL HAVE MERCY.

God forgives sins as we confess them, confession of sins brings forgiveness and cleansing from all unrighteousness. That’s a total healing from it source. Confession of sin also brings about healing for us even as we obtain mercy from the Father. God’s arms are widely open today to receive you. Don’t stay on with that sin, learn to confess it, remember the benefits, forgiveness, cleansing, healing and mercy. God bless you.
