Man is a man of bread. The substance of man is dependent on the bread. For him to span through to life depend on the bread that he took or he partake of. Bread here may not so mean the natural bread from bakery.
Man can follow anybody for the sake of bread. Bread therefore is what satisfy the longing of man or that which satisfy his belly. But really man do not know what satisfy him. Man can feed on vanity and see satisfaction in it, but if such will be sincere with himself, he will say this bread is vanity. A man can come to God not because he loves God. He can come to God because of bread. Let’s see

John  6:24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, SEEKING FOR JESUS.

6:25 And when they had FOUND HIM on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, RABBI, WHEN CAMEST THOU HITHER?

6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but BECAUSE YE DID EAT OF THE LOAVES, AND WERE FILLED.

We see here that the people were seeking for Jesus and scriptures told us that when we seek Him we will find Him.

Matthew  7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

7:8  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

So these folks came seeking for Jesus. They loved what they fed on the other day, when he gave them of the loaves of bread and they did eat and were satisfied. Man feel satisfaction is what gives him his uttermost desire but until such come to the Lord, he will realise that he need that which satisfy. An ordinary can raise his shoulder and say wow this ones love me when he see men seek for him as they do to Jesus. But so untrue. You know God knows the thoughts of men.

1 Samuel  2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: FOR THE LORD IS A GOD OF KNOWLEDGE, AND BY HIM ACTIONS ARE WEIGHED.

He knows the thought of man and by the way when a man gives himself to the word, he will learn to discern thoughts by the word of God. We can even learn to discern the thoughts of God by staying with His Word.

Hebrews  4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, AND IS A DISCERNER OF THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART.

And also Jesus is the word.

John  1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, AND THE WORD WAS GOD.

You can’t stand before the word that discern thoughts and lie to Him, He knows the thoughts of your heart, your purpose for coming. You don’t need to tell Him. You can’t deceive Him with smiling faced love. He sees it!
So this folks came seeking the Lord Jesus Christ and he said to them, I know the purpose of you seeking for me, I’d tell you in a minute!

John  6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, YE SEEK ME, NOT BECAUSE YE SAW THE MIRACLES, BUT BECAUSE YE DID EAT OF THE LOAVES, AND WERE FILLED.

You see, He knows their purpose. They love that bread and still desired it. Why do you seek God?

Jesus continued…

John  6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

I love the way Amplified Version says it.

John 6:27 Stop toiling and doing and producing for the food that perishes and decomposes [in the using], but strive and work and produce rather for the [lasting] food which endures [continually] unto life eternal; the Son of Man will give (furnish) you that, for God the Father has authorized and certified Him and put His seal of endorsement upon Him.

So that means a man can seek for God, for his Labour for the bread and not the bread of God and may not even have interest in it. But He said don’t labour for that meat which perish but for that which endure unto eternal life. Men may love this, man may not be able to endure it.

They continued that their fathers ate of the bread in the wilderness.

John  6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them BREAD from heaven to eat.

6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but MY FATHER GIVETH YOU THE TRUE BREAD FROM HEAVEN.

But Jesus said

John  6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and GIVETH LIFE UNTO THE WORLD.

This world is in need of this true bread. The world has no expression to life because it lack this bread. It’s a life giving bread. See their response..

John  6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, EVERMORE GIVE US THIS BREAD.

I know that man will not love the bread when they see it. Your desires are best seen by your true craving in your heart for what you want. Jesus now open them to come see the bread.

John  6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John  6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

(Note the word hunger and thirst, I show you in a minute)

Bread takes care of hunger. Water takes care of thirst. Jesus is that bread of life. He’s the living bread. The Holy Ghost is the living water. Jesus said to the woman by the well…

John  4:10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou KNOWEST THE GIFT OF GOD, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given THEE LIVING WATER.

John  7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.

7:39 (BUT THIS SPAKE HE OF THE SPIRIT, which they that believe on him should receive: FOR THE HOLY GHOST was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The meal is complete! It’s a complete feast for man. This is the feast man ought to live for in other to live.

I told you that men will not love that bread, when I first said it I felt maybe that’s just my word. People can raise a desire but some times when they see what they desire they run. Your hunger must be strong enough to endure and have what it desires. It must be a right desire.

John  6:41 The Jews then MURMURED AT HIM, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? HOW IS IT THEN THAT HE SAITH, I CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN?

Jesus saw it again..

John  6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

He then stir them to believe Him

John  6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

(Note the one, that bread of life).

So Jesus open the word more to them.

John  6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

That bread you’re saying your fathers did eat, they ate it and they are dead, but I tell you if you partake of Me you will live, Jesus is the bread that endures unto Eternal Life. So He said common I am the living bread.

6:51 I AM THE LIVING BREAD WHICH CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN: IF ANY MAN EAT OF THIS BREAD, HE SHALL LIVE FOR EVER: and the BREAD that I will give is MY FLESH, which I will give for the life of the world.

The desire of God is to give that bread to this world so that it can have life. He has the desire that all men be saved. Man is living by another bread. The bread man is living by is causing death to him. The truth must be told no matter what.

John  6:52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Jesus is that living bread that the world need. The world today is doing as though they don’t need that bread but it all lie. The world does not know how to receive the truth. Jesus is that bread of life and His flesh is the meat indeed, even His body. This is such meat that we ought to Labour for. Remember He said Labour not for the meat that perish  but that which endures for life. The feasting on Him give us eternal life. Even though the man may die here on earth but that meal will span in him what the Lord will use that to raise such a man up the last day. Feasting on that bread of life gives us life and makes us to live. This bread does not make man to die. The content or the ingredient in that bread is what produces life in the life of a man. When a man does not have that bread of life, life has departed from such except he partake of that bread of life which is Jesus Christ. Death is all we see all around. Men are living for bread that do not give life. And as they eat that bread they become dead the more. Bread changes the configuration of man. The life in that bread speaks volume to the life of man. It has life that instruct man. Bread is what gives a man his purpose for living. The bread man live for is called the bread of sorrows.

Psalms  127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the BREAD OF SORROWS: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

You see Labour for that bread of sorrow? This does not mean a man should not work but he must learn to live by the bread of life. Sleep is what man need. A lot are achieved when a man sleep, this does not mean laziness. It tells about the people of God resting on God. Jesus knows what to live for even in that bread of life. Not to live by the bread… Not His.

Matthew  4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

His disciples after hearing from Him they said it was a hard saying….

John  6:60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, THIS IS AN HARD SAYING; WHO CAN HEAR IT?

Our labour ought always to be towards the bread of life.

Our hearts must always be ready to receive His word, and how to live is by His word, not just hearing them but also obeying them.

Proverbs 7:24 HEARKEN UNTO ME NOW therefore, O ye children, and ATTEND TO THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH.

“Our living comes from the proceedings of God’s word from His mouth to us and keeping such words”
That’s how to live. Not just for the bread but for every word that proceeds out of His mouth and also doing them. It sounds to me as though we shouldn’t miss every word that proceeds out of His mouth. It is by every word. Just as our body live by what we eat, our spirit and soul lives by every word that proceeds out of His mouth and also doing them.

Our response should be as Job that exalt the word of God’s mouth more than his necessary meal.

Job 23:11 My foot hath held HIS STEPS, his way have I kept, and not declined.

23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I HAVE ESTEEMED THE WORDS OF HIS MOUTH MORE THAN MY NECESSARY FOOD.

Let me conclude with this, to create more thirst and hunger for that Living bread of life. It’s an experienced I had in 2013 in a program I went for “DIVINE NATURE”
I remember then in school when Rev. Kay was ministering in song as we were about to take the communion. My eyes was opened to see the Lord, and I saw men feasting on His body, and He was rejoicing and calling the angels and the  host of heaven to come and see what’s happening, He had this joy in His eyes as men were feasting on His body, then later I realised that as men were feasting on His body they were turning to Christ, this brought joy to His heart, as many were feasting on His body they were turning to Christ.

Every man turn to what he feeds on. There is a popular quote “you are what you eat” The content in that bread that man feed on begin to show in his life. The bread of life is Jesus and we need to live for that bread till that bread forms a life in us, which is Christ fullness even of His stature. Keep walking…
