HOW TO RESPOND TO PROPHECIES.

Prophecies strengthens our walk of faith. When they come, they are meant to encourage us, give us joy and comfort us.

1 Corinthians  14:3  But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and COMFORT.

1 Corinthians  14:31  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be COMFORTED.

We see here the essence of prophecies. Edification, Exhortation and Comfort. When we are down,  we need prophecies.  We must learn how to pick prophecies even when a friend is speaking to us. This has happened before very well to me. It may not always be how you expect it but just be open enough to know this is a prophecy. There is a way it strengthens and encourage our walk to keep us for what’s coming and to take us out of sorrows. Some folks do not allow prophecies in church, maybe because of some reasons but by this we may not allow the comforting of the saints. Truly,
some messages come forth so that men will pick the comfort of the Lord for their lives.

WE RESPOND TO PROPHECIES BY WAITING AND PRAYING WITH THANKSGIVING

We must learn to wait when we hear prophecies especially when it is specified for us. Also when it is for others and our nation. We can wait in prayers to bring them to come to pass, they will come to pass by watching also with our prayers.

Luke  2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was SIMEON; and THE SAME MAN WAS JUST AND DEVOUT, WAITING for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
2:31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;  2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
2:33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

This man knew what was coming and he waited for it by the help of the Spirit of God. There was also a certain widow

Luke  2:36 And there was ONE ANNA, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

2:37 And she was a WIDOW of about fourscore and four years, which DEPARTED NOT FROM THE TEMPLE, BUT SERVED GOD WITH FASTINGS AND PRAYERS NIGHT AND DAY.

2:38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

She knew about this and never left the temple, she waited even with fasting and prayers to see Him that will bring the redemption to the people.
Prophecies are not just to sweeten our hearts but it must take us also to the place of prayers. Some prophecies came out for this year which I see that is really playing out in Nigeria, I saw that my heart was been referred back to it, then I took the prophecy again and then begin to pray along with it. Prophecies drives us to pray more and encourages our heart. The comfort it brings is to make us see that our answer is at hand and therefore we trust God more. Some times the prayers we pray fasten it.

WE MUST RESPOND TO PROPHECIES BY OUR WALK AND DESIRING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT.
Paul speaking to Timothy not to neglect what he got by prophecy.

1 Timothy 4:14  NEGLECT NOT THE GIFT THAT IS IN THEE, WHICH WAS GIVEN THEE BY PROPHECY, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

He told him to assure he put it to work because he got the gift through prophecy and laying on of the hand. No wonder he charged him again. I know maybe that came out by the Spirit of God to tell Timothy that he need to do something about what he has received. Action must be our response to prophecies.

2 Timothy 1:6  WHEREFORE I PUT THEE IN REMEMBRANCE that thou STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

You see, this will encourage him again, remind him and also active him to put the gift he had by prophecy and laying on of the hand to work. Paul knew that this will get better by reason of use. We need people like this to stay to encourage us to put what we have received to work.

Hebrews 5:14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who BY REASON OF USE HAVE THEIR SENSES EXERCISED TO DISCERN BOTH GOOD AND EVIL.

Discernment is a gift, and you need to also stir it up. Prophetic flow do not come to our lives to just hear them and forget but to respond to it and this brings blessing to us.

James 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and CONTINUETH THEREIN, he being not a FORGETFUL HEARER, BUT A DOER OF THE WORK, this man shall be BLESSED IN HIS DEED.

Our nations have some prophecies hanging on them we need the flow of prayer and waiting even instructions on what to do and to do them to bring this prophecies to work. And because a prophecy has not yet been fulfilled does not mean it’s not true, sometimes it need the effectiveness and involvement of our prayers. This should always be our response to the prophetic. We are prophetic generation and we must learn to do what’s expected to ensure and see that this prophecies come to pass. Prophetic people are people who are diligent with prayers and searching with enquiry. We must be ready to know what things means.

1 Peter 1:10-11 “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.”

Prophetic people are never lazy, but diligent to know what those words means even as they respond to it. Respond to those prophecies as they can come and see the results alive in your life. Respond with waiting in prayers and also put action to walk. Keep walking…
