BECOMING PERSISTENT IN THE PLACE OF PRAYER.

Everyone want to receive quick answers to prayer but they don’t want to learn how to pray. Rev Ken said “When it comes to God you must learn patience”.  I know that this age is a quick age, where we want all this done quickly, even the technology been provided for us is intended to serve us well and quick. One of the spirit of the age is impatience.

Alright let’s look at Luke 18:1-8. We shall take this as gentle as we can.

Luke  18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, THAT MEN OUGHT ALWAYS TO PRAY, AND NOT TO FAINT;

This is what I call the parable of prayer. This first verse says that men ought always to pray. Always to pray and not faint. We can faint because our prayers has not be answered. We can call God and say it’s like Your word is not true. But it’s not so. Bible talks about been weary, don’t feel you can’t be weary. It’s possible weariness comes because of unanswered prayers.

Galatians  6:9  And let us NOT BE WEARY IN WELL DOING: for in due season we shall REAP, if WE FAINT NOT.

2 Thessalonians  3:13  But ye, brethren, be NOT WEARY IN WELL DOING.

“Prayer is a well doing”

“Prayer deals with time, and works by patience and not been weary”

“Prayer is a seed that we will reap if we faint not in watering it and allow God to give us the increase”

“Weariness may come, but always learn to see your harvest.”

“There is always a due season for our request, if we learn how not to faint”

When you pray and it’s like your prayers are not been answered, you must learn not to be weary but to be persistent. For we always must learn to pray everywhere and everything.

1 Timothy  2:8  I will therefore that MEN PRAY EVERY WHERE, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

One thing that cures worry is prayer. Rather than stay in worry learn to pray and keep praying. Let’s move on…

Luke  18:2 Saying, There was in a city a JUDGE, WHICH FEARED NOT GOD, NEITHER REGARDED MAN:

This information is very vital. You know when it comes to love it involves two parties to show it to. One to God and the other to man. But this man had no fear for God, he didn’t even regard man. Someone that has no fear for God will surely not fear man. This judge has the final say to what we are about to see.

Luke  18:3 And there was a WIDOW in that city; and she came unto him, SAYING, AVENGE ME OF MINE ADVERSARY.

This tells the involvement of two people. The judge and the widow. One needs the other more.
This certain widow came to the judge for help, she came to meet a judge that has no regard for man, nor for God, so tell me how will he have regard for her, a widow? But this widow knew she has no other hope, except this judge that has the final say. She knew that no man is greater in the land than that judge.

“Always go to God, because He  has the answer”

“The reason we stop praying or stop coming to God is because we have another option, because when we know we have no option we will keep coming and stay until He answer us.”

Let’s see what the judge said.

Luke  18:4 And HE WOULD NOT FOR A WHILE: BUT AFTERWARD HE SAID WITHIN HIMSELF, THOUGH I FEAR NOT GOD, NOR REGARD MAN;

She spoke with the judge put he won’t listen but afterward he said within himself that though I feared not God nor man… So he knows he does not fear God nor give regard to man. But this widow just know that no one will fight for her against her adversary except she keep coming to this judge. She knows who has the final say.

18:5 Yet BECAUSE THIS WIDOW TROUBLETH me, I WILL AVENGE HER, LEST BY HER CONTINUAL COMING SHE WEARY ME.

Now we will understand that  the heart of kings belongs to God and like a river He turns it the way He likes Proverbs 21:1. This is a man that has no regard for God nor man.

“Prayer can change the heart of any man, if we just dare to pray”

The judge thought of it because the widow kept on coming, she kept saying the same thing, avenge me of my adversary!!! Avenge me of my enemy!!! When the judge sees the widow from afar he knows that this widow has come again with the same request. She won’t stop coming… The judge said lest by her continual coming she weary me. Can I say, she knew her help is from no man but that judge. We can weary God with our prayers. Yes! The truth is God can not be wearied, but when you keep coming by your heart of faith. God get moved and get into action by your coming of faith.

“We must learn to keep coming to God through faith”

“Don’t weary God with your tears but weary Him with your Faith, He will always respond.”

The judge gave her a thought because she kept coming, and he feared to be wearied by her coming.

“God will always respond to our coming.”

One thing we must learn to do is to be diligent and be persistent in the place of prayers. We shouldn’t  be weary in the place of prayers but rather keep praying. We must learn to pray to Him with His Word, God will always respond to His Word. No man hears what he said and he’ll not give attention to it. In fact some will say, wow! I said that? Let me hear it again. I actually said that. God has integrity. We know some men that keep to their words because of integrity. How much more God?

Luke  18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the UNJUST judge saith.

Unjust because he does not fear God.

Luke  18:7 AND SHALL NOT GOD avenge HIS OWN ELECT, WHICH CRY DAY AND NIGHT UNTO HIM, THOUGH HE BEAR LONG WITH THEM?

This got me thinking… Jesus now saying if this unjust judge can do like this, and avenge for this widow because of her continual coming, how much more God even to His own elect(the people of God). God is always a prayer answering God. Let’s not have any option than God. I Knew this a time ago, when I was waiting for what I needed. Especially in bank we will learn a lot. That’s why some of us hate banks that are very slow. When we have not been attended to and it’s something we need, we know we have no option than to wait. Waiting is key. Persistent and continual in prayer is a key thing in prayer.

THE QUESTION OF FAITH

Luke  18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, SHALL HE FIND FAITH ON THE EARTH?

CONCLUSION:
Never think God is wicked. Never thing His Word does not work or prayers does not work. Some believe in very hard Labour before they can make hands meet. Saying heavens help those who help themselves. Some will even say my hand brought me this and that. It was my labour. God want to be responsible for you. You can commit your needs to the Lord. Are you worried about your children or your marriage or your academics? Worry not… Learn to be a caster. When you cast your waste to the bin, you don’t go back to pick it that, this thing is still needful, it’s of less use that’s why you casted it. What you do is cast it and leave it there. Then waste management will come and pick it up those are angels.

Revelation  8:3  And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.   Revelation  8:4  And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

So your prayers will come up for a memorial like Cornelius Act 10:1-4.  So don’t be worry learn to cast your prayers..

1Peter5:7
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about youwatchfully.

Keep walking… Stay in prayers your result is at hand.
