Proverbs 4:18 KJV
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

A just man is one who has been redeemed from the life of sin and iniquity and has been pronounced or adjudged justified by faith and saved through grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The path of such a man is as a shining light…. It shines in perpetuity. It doesn’t have an end. Such was the declaration of the prophet Isaiah “Arise, Shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you for darkness shall cover the earth and gross darkness the people, but arise, shine.” Isaiah 60:1-2.

In the midst of darkness, it is the responsibility of the just man to shine. To shine means to give light, to give direction, to design a pattern to be followed. Unfortunately, we live in a world where darkness is the one instructing the hearts of men, and the righteous seem to be in coma. And so, confusion and direction directionless has been the order of the day.

The stars shine the brightest when the night seems to be darker that is the darker the night, the brighter the light. Hence, we are to shine forth our light in the midst of the great and horrible darkness invading our world. And so we can say, the path of the Just is as light that shines brighter and brighter and brighter and brighter….

… The light is supposed to shine on until the perfect day. This suggest that the perfect is unfolding. The nights is reigning presently and the darker it gets, the brighter the light. Don’t be afraid of the dark, just shine on as light. Jesus once instructed us, He said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt. 5:16.

The question therefore becomes are you shining or you’re complaining? Many people rather than shine in their small locality, complains about everything. Just like the two disciples on the way to Emmaus were complaining about what has befallen them, we also spend a larger amount of our life complaining about the darkness, rather than shine. Jesus on the other hand, began to show them what it means to shine and began to open up scriptures and prophecies to them and fire was lighted up in their hearts, and when the bread was finally broken, their eyes opened and light shone upon them, strength was ministered to them. Our society needs to see the light, so shine.

The more you sit back to complain, the more Alcoholism, sexism, Betting and gambling, and all manners of evil will tear down our society. Don’t always forget, only a just man can do justice. So, if you want true justice, shine your light.

Shine your light. Let your light shine. God bless you.
