Good day! It’s another beautiful week ahead of us. How was your weekend? I hope you enjoyed it all the way?

This week, I like to share with you on how God sees you. There is man’s perception about himself and there is God’s view of you, a declaration of who He has made you to be. We are the way we are because how we see ourselves. Until we begin to see ourselves in the light of how God sees us, we may never live a better and higher quality life. And this is not just addressing morals or pious living but a true life that truly represents and re-presents God to all. Paul shows us who we truly are in the sight of God and how we ought to see ourselves.

He started by showing us who we truly are in the sight of God and who we should be to our fellow.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God….

We are not just an accidental piece of creation. We are a product of a deliberate intention of God created in His image and to be conformed to His likeness. We are wonderfully and fearfully made. My guess is not everyone understands this. Many of us look down on ourselves just because we rarely remember that we are the product of God’s handiwork. And as though that is not enough, He also elected us. This means out of all that He created, He has carefully chosen you to be His representative here on earth. God didn’t just leave you alone, He foreknew you, He predestinated you to look exactly like His Son, who is the brightness of His glory and is the express image of His person. He also called you and then justified you after the which He now decks you up with Glory. You are God’s elect hence you cannot live carelessly and recklessly. Live according to your status in God. Live responsibly.

You are not just an elect of God, you have also been made Holy. To be Holy means to be ‘separated unto God’, ‘to be set apart and concentrated for God’s use’. It may suffice to inform you that God Himself has sanctified, purified and concentrate you for a purpose higher than just living the cycle of a mere man. Remember He said about you that ‘you are gods….’ To be in the status of a god means you are no more ordinary, you are a different class of being. Yet unfortunately, we rarely realise how much separated we are and as such we meddle through life with mundane things and live like mere men hence die like mere men. We must ensure to maintain our holiness which is rooted in God. One that is holy is not given to all kinds of lifestyle. He/she lives in separation to things that can defile. Just like a soldier is not allowed to meddle with civilian affairs, so also is a holy person. Refrain from defilements. And that’s why scripture says ‘be holy as your Father in heaven is Holy.’ Live holy. This is a call to responsibility, so Live responsibly.

Having elected us and made us Holy, He also made us His beloved. It is very disturbing to note how hard it is for man to fully comprehend how much God loves and cares for him. You are the beloved of God. He loves you so dearly that He goes all out to see that you are well nurtured and blessed. Often times, when we think of God as it relates to us, we think of Him as one cruel, fault finding God who jus all out to seek whom to punish and unfortunately, when we face hard situation, we believe God is punishing for a wrong act we committed sometime back. Friend, that’s not very true of God. Although we must know that God hates sin, yet He loves to save the sinner. He is always anticipating the salvation of the soul of that sinning sinner. God is love and we know that perfect love cast out fear. Love covers all sins… That’s a hard pill to digest, but I want you to believe the word of God because it is true and perfect. Perhaps I should show you some attributes of God as revealed by Moses.

Exodus 34:6-7 “And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord , The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”

Does that sound like the God you know? Does that represent the God that was painted to you?

God is merciful….
God is merciful showing mercy to all who ever comes to Him for mercy. He said to us ‘come to the throne of grace with boldness so that you may obtain mercy and find grace for help in our needy times.’ He also said He will show mercy to whom He wills and truth is, His mercy endures forever more. What is required of you just like the blind Bartimeous is to realise how blind and helpless you are and such cry for God’s mercy. He is never bankrupt of mercy. He is ever rich in mercy. Ask for mercy today.

God is gracious…
It is equally amazing to note this about God that He is gracious. To be gracious means to be full of grace and also have equal ability to dispense grace to all who request it. Just like a reservoir of water, it has the capacity to give water when demand is laid. God is full of grace but He doesn’t jus hand it over to all and sundry. He would not cast His costly pearly to swine. He doesn’t waste resources like men do because of abundance. He carefully dispenses according to the measure that is required. Yet, in all we know that there is sufficiency of grace and His grace is sufficient to go round all only that He gives grace to be humble and those who realise and know that they need grace, but He resist the proud. All you need is to humble yourself under the mighty hands of God and in due season, He will lift you up. Live in His Grace.

God is longsuffering….
The word longsuffering means ability to endure for a very long period. God does have the ability to endure with you and that’s why He doesn’t just kills you at every wrong you do. God is tolerant. The constitution of countries and laws of the nation are not tolerant of criminal acts or actions that seem to contravene the established laws, yet God is so so enduring. He is not quick to destroy or punish one because of a wrong act. He patiently waits until you come to the realisation of your wrong life. We as individuals cannot stand even the best of our loved ones when they seem to sin against us, yet we willfully sin against God, yet pray for Him to bless us. Does He deny us, no. He still hopes we will just change one day. He is longsuffering earnestly waiting that salvation finally truly dawns in you.

God is abundant in goodness and in truth….
God is full of good things. He is always Good, never evil. God is good, all the time. He is not just good, He is abundant (massive) in goodness and in truth. He is not jus good for to deceive you, He is good indeed. Some are good circumstantially, when the circumstances change, they shoe their true identity. God is never like that. He is liberal to all. And that’s why he makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. He is no respecter of persons. He is always good and full of goodness.

Other attributes of God seen in the scripture above…
He keeps mercy for thousands…
He forgives iniquity, transgression and sins….
He doesn’t allow a guilty man to go free with answering for his acts…

God loves you for He has separated you unto Himself as one He has elected. That’s the way God wants you to see yourself because that’s how He sees you. You are blessed.
