Have you ever wondered what makes man a higher creature than all other things created by God?
Have you ever wondered why man was put in charge of the earth and could direct and control it however he chooses?
The answer is coded in the blessing God commanded on man at creation. When God formed man, He not only breathe upon them, He also blessed them. Although that blessing seems evident in man but it’s not activated on every type of man. Why? Not every man has the capacity to be a carrier of the blessing. Let me show you.
Genesis 1:26, 28 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:… And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over….”
From the scriptures above, one can deduce five levels of the operation of the blessing with which God blessed man but they are premised upon some conditions. Does that sound like five loaves and two fishes? That’s just to toggle your mind.
Being fruitful literally means to be full of fruits. It relates to the ability to bear fruits. It also relates to the ability to give birth to something new or an offshoot of yourself.
Many lives do not really operate in this level of blessing where they are filled with fruits. Many do not have the ability to produce something new out of nothing and so they remain barren. A woman is one who has capacity conceive and bring forth something new. God has blessed you with such an ability. You need to start operating in this level of blessing.
To multiply means to exponentially increase something. This is slightly higher than just being fruitful. Being fruitful relates to increase by additions while multiplying relates to exponential increase. When one multiplies, he has ability to turn a few into plenty. Like Jesus did with five loaves and two fishes, multiplying them to feed more than 5000 people, we have also been blessed by God to multiply resources, ideas and things in our disposal.
Many are just content with just being fruitful and they stay at the base of the blessing even when they can also operate the power of multiplication.
To replenish means to renew, to fill up or to complete. In other words, it means to put back something that was missing or the ability to create a solution for something missing. God has blessed man with the ability to solve problems. Man is a solution provider, not oe who causes problem. Whether we like it or not, many problems need be solved, ecological problems, social dysfunction, political instability, educational problems, even religious problems…. On this level of the blessing, God has given the ability to be a solution to his immediate environment. Identify a problem and proffer a solution.
Subdue means to make sure all is in perfect state and is working as they ought. It may amaze you to realise that things will go awry if not properly subdued. Another word that describes subdue is ‘tame’. To subdue can also mean to perfect the act. God does mot want us to struggle through life but for us to perfectly be in control. This level of the blessing is the fourth step, not many get here. It is the ability to ensure that things work as they ought. Like Jesus was in the ship and the storm arose, all He did was to subdue it by saying ‘peace be still’. Even the people where amazed and said, ‘even the wind hear him’.
This is the highest point of the blessing pronounced on man at creation. To have dominion means to be in charge, to be in absolute control. God wants man to be in charge of the affairs of the earth to determine what happens and what doesn’t happen. And this can be seen when God brought all the animals to Adam to see what he would name them and whatsoever he named them was so. The capacity to have dominion was given to man by God pronouncing the blessing but not many could attain it since after the fall of man (well, that’s a story for another day). Jesus demonstrated this when He walked upon water showing that all the elements of the world are subject to Him.
But in all, one must realise the conditions attached. “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, and after our likeness’….”
May I tell you that you cannot operate in any level of this blessings if you are not in the image of God and if you are not growing into his likeness. Like Jesus was described, “who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person…” We also must live as the image of God and also become the likeness of God without which we may miss out of the Blessing.
Therefore, we need to know that our destiny is to be conformed to the image of the son of God (form of godliness), and ensure we live according to his ways (power of godliness).
God bless you as you live in his image attaining unto his likeness. Have a blessed week.
