Ministering: Rev. (Mrs.) Helen Oyegoke
God has been shining His light. The reason for light is so that we can walk. We are journeying into God. Without light you can’t approach God. Solomon said, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. (Prov. 4:18).” The feet of the just is meant to walk on a particular path- the path of the just. I have a path I must walk in as a just man. I have a path; and this path is called the path of the just.
The path of an unjust man leads to destruction. Narrow is the path that leads to life. The end of the just leads to life. The more the just walks in His path, the more he journeys into life.
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
It takes life to discover the path of a just man. This path leads to His (the Lord) presence. I can only journey through this path as light is shown to me. The perfect day is when the just man arrives in God’s presence- the presence of perfection. The just must have been journeying in light until he arrives in God’s presence. The light on the path of the just removes darkness as it shines.
Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world…” (John 8:12). Jesus Himself was made light by the light that was given to lighten Him. It is only light that can approach light. As we are receiving light, we are being made light; so that we can approach the great Light. Darkness can’t approach Light. Jesus was given light until he became light.
Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world…” (Matt. 5:14)- We are meant to chart a course for the world to walk in. It takes a priest to approach God. A priest is He that has light. Light is used to raise priests. A priest is one who keeps light (knowledge) (Mal. 2:7). When Jesus rose from the dead, God said, “Thou art my Son, Today have I begotten you…” (Heb. 1:5; 5:5). In another place He said, “Thou art a priest for ever…(Heb. 5:6). A son is a priest. When you are raising a son, you are raising a priest. It is only sons that can approach God. The gap between men and God are closed as sons are being raised.
Jesus has a priesthood that is different from the order of Aaron. He is the first priest in the order of Christs. Jesus had access to God because He became a priest. He is with the Father because of His priesthood. The kind of priest that Christ was made is a priesthood that can approach God. Aaron’s priesthood was different from that of Christ. The priesthood of Christ allows Him to abide in the presence of God- the Holiest of all. This is because Jesus was raised with the light of the Holiest of all- He was formed by that light. Jesus was configured to stay in God. Light configured Him to abide.
God who dwells in the Holiest of all- He’s an embodiment of love. He wants us to abide in love also. He wants us to be configured with the light that will make us abide in the holiest of all; just as Jesus was configured to abide there.
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
This is the order of priesthood God wants to make us into- not one that comes in once in a year. Hebrews Chapter 1 tells us Jesus was made the brightness of God’s glory; and the express image of God’s person. Jesus inherited all things. He even said that all things that the Father has are His. He was configured to be made higher than the heavens; and better than the angels.
Jesus was configured to be an entity of God’s love. When you open God’s person, what you find is love. God is love! If Jesus was made the brightness of God’s glory and the express image of God’s person, it then means He was configured to be love. The light of the Father, which is love, configured Jesus to be light that can come into God’s presence. We have to be altered; so as to become like Jesus who was configured to become like the Father.
I sang this song at WTV:
Many waters cannot quench it
This kind of love
This kind of love
Neither can the floods drown it
This kind of love
A new kind of love.
God wants us be be configured to the place of His love. Our love is still very low; we don’t have the light of the Father yet. When we know the light of the Father, we will have His love- “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. (1 John 4:7). The image of Love was configured in Jesus.
Not that we loved God, rather God demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son to be made a propitiation for our sins. God has to stretch our hearts to bring us to this dimension of love. It is easy for me to love those who love me; this is not the kind of love I am talking about. God’s kind of love is higher; it is this kind of love we are called into; so that we may abide.
When you are hearing this message, let it judge you; don’t say it is judging another person. Satan will be cheating you if you do that. When light shines let it expose the darkness in you. Cry to God that darkness be removed. God is close to them who have a contrite heart and a broken spirit. A contrite heart will repent during this message; because the light will be X-raying him or her- showing you your darkness; not another person’s darkness.
God is calling everyone to come. You are also meant to be in God’s presence. You are only allowed to judge when you have passed all the tests of love.
How do you become born of God? God said, “You are my son; today have I begotten you.” Jesus was born of God- “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit…” (John 3:5). It is he that is born of God and knoweth God that will enter into the kingdom. To be born of God is to be born of the very Light and nature of God- this is what gives you access into the Kingdom.
We were born of hatred. What we are talking about, now, is what cannot be accessed by our strength; but by God’s mercy. Here, man has to be humble himself and ask God for mercy.
1 John 4:19
“We love him, because he first loved us.”
God loved us when we were crooked. We hated Him. Bible records that we were hateful- this is the kind of people God showed His love to. God’s love went above the condition we were in. His love was able to cover our condition of being hateful; and hating one another (Rom. 5:6-8).
God wants to raise us according to the priesthood of Melchisedech. Jesus was called good master, but He said no one is good but God (Matt. 19:16-17). The only thing that is right is Love; no other thing is right. I am not talking about natural love here. It is only God that is right. The love that can cover multitude of sins is true love. This is the love that was revealed to Jesus and He obeyed it.
There are three things that abide- faith, hope and love; the greatest of these is love. We don’t know this love. It was this love that raised Jesus- the priest of the New Testament. The brightness of God’s glory and express image of God’s person is who the priest of the New Testament is. He was made love. When we look at God, we see love. We need to be born of this love. God does not speak in tongues to love; it is His natural state; it is His person.
I think it is because of God’s grace. Listening to these words: I found out that I have the grace to forgive and let go of hurts easily. We need to be born by this light. Jesus Christ was made like that; this is why He has the access into the Holiest of all.
“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.”
An ungodly person deserves judgement, abuse, castigation and punishment; but here, in this chapter, we can see that God showed His kind of love to us- He demonstrated His kind of love to us; in that while we were still sinners, He died for us. God gave the most precious thing to those that didn’t deserve it. Christ was the best of God. The best of God was given to those who were sinners. People don’t give their best to people normally; unless those people deserve it- This is the way people are. We still love naturally; that’s why we can’t approach God. We are low beings.
When the bible says we were enemies, it really meant it. We all carried a nature contrary to that which is in God. Also, our works which proceed from our nature were contrary to Him. We were all qualified for wrath.
(May the light that is shining purify our hearts and move us to the level where God is. Amen.)
We need to be born of God- totally configured to be like God; for the purpose of entering into the Kingdom. There has to be conversion for us to enter the Kingdom of God. What converts us is light. When God’s standard is being revealed to us, we should judge ourselves. When we think a message that is being preached speaks to another brother, we are saying we don’t need to change. Anyone who sees another person and says the person isn’t walking he’s the one who isn’t walking. Weigh yourself first!
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
Love always thinks of salvation.
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”
When man is brought into this plum line, he fails. God’s ways are not our ways. You will live if you walk in the way of God- you will cease to be man. By nature, as said in Ephesians Chapter 2, we deserve wrath; but God decided to give mercy.
Can we see the kind of priest we are to be made? This is why scriptures say, “For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. (Heb. 5:1-2).
A priest is compassionate. God was supposed to bring judgement to the earth; but because of who He is, He gave mercy. Jesus was made a faithful and merciful High priest- He doesn’t give up on us easily. From the depth of sin and death, God commended His love, and raised man; because of His mercy and of His kind of love. The enmity in man did not prevent His love. There are things a man can do to you that will make you vow that nothing will make anything bring you together with such people. God’s kind of love cleanses enmity- It removes enmity. Although God’s love doesn’t encourage that damages be made- Damages should be curtailed; but they should be curtailed in love. I must not damage or speak evil of anyone. The bible says admonishes us to overcome evil with good. Your retaliation must always be love. Even when there is no repentance, still love; but curtail the extent of evil cause.
Jesus put Judas by His side. He never told Peter that Judas stole from the purse. The tolerance of Jesus was too high. The money Judas stole didn’t mean anything to Jesus; Jesus loved him till the end; peradventure Judas would change. All that Jesus did was geared towards the salvation of Judas.
I remember while I was in Port Harcourt, I and Rev. Zoge were told to host a Pastor for while; until He got a place for himself; to stay in. I began to notice that my money was always missing where I kept it. I never believed that a brother or sister could have picked the money. In my naivety, I even told the brethren that prayed with us in the house to anoint my bag- that a demon was stealing from it (This was the extent to which I did not believe that any brother or sister could steal my money.) Eventually, I got to know it was this Pastor we hosted that had been stealing my money. One day, immediately after some money was dropped with me, I escorted some of the brethren, leaving only him in the house. On returning to the house, I wanted to take from the money I was given, but I found out the money wasn’t there anymore. Then, I knew that it had been him all along- it was clear. But I covered it- I didn’t tell anyone. This Pastor still didn’t stop; He continued on a higher level; until people began to know he steals.
I became justified at a point when I found out that he stole not from only me. I began to affirm to people that he indeed stole from me; but I covered him. By the time I wanted to tell the fourth person, the Holy Ghost cautioned me. Eventually, this man cut off from the ministry he was under and wanted to start his own inaugural meeting; still stealing money.
The reason we should cover one another is for the purpose of restoration, correction and discipline; where necessary. It must also be done within; it shouldn’t go out. Many believers have fallen short in this area. The news of another believer’s short coming are like fresh news to us- we want to tell everyone about it; But priests are faithful and merciful.
There are some informations that are given my husband, that even if a knife is put through his throat, he will not tell even me his wife. Do we know how many of our sins the Lord covers? Even the ones that are not yet exposed in our hearts. The Lord covers them so that we can be saved.
We need to see the way God sees. God can reconfigure us through His knowledge. He will reconfigure us to be like Him. It is those that have been configured as little child that will become like Him. Heaven will set us up in situations; to know how we will act and react.
God’s love can come over anything; His love is stronger than death. Weigh yourself with this scale- with this standard, you will always fall short. This is why the bible says, “Judge not…” (Matt. 7:1). Before you judge, you must have judgement of love.
Kenneth E. Hagin was in a ministers meeting and a man of God was being judged by other ministers. He came amidst them and asked them what happened. He was told. All Hagin said was “We all know that fornication is not right; he ought not to have done that.” At night, when Hagin went to sleep, the Lord came to Him, asking, “Whose minister is he? Yours or Mine? Why then do you judge him?”
“With righteousness, he will judge the meek of the earth…”. The Lord told Hagin that he wouldn’t have done better if he was in that ministers position. We must move from the place where we are. We must move from the place where our love is not only limited to those that love us.
1 John 4:7
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”
God gave birth to Himself- a priest who will forever abide in His person. This was why Jesus was able to say on the cross, “Father forgive them; for they do not know what they do.”
A friend of mine came to my house- shortly before we travelled. She said meekness is the way to authority. Something happened between Papa Adeboye (General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God) and another Pastor; and Papa Adeboye said, “I leave him to God.” This man was attacked by armed robbers; and they killed him. Papa Adeboye, after then, never used such statements again. Those words carried authority!
When God raises you, he will raise you to be meek and gentle- This is how true authority can rest on you. This was why Christ was able to say what he said on the cross. He could have said that all the Roman soldiers be made monkeys. We must at all times overcome evil with good. You will be trained with meekness, humility, gentleness and love; for the purpose of authority. From that day onward, Papa Adeboye never said, “I leave him to God.”
Each time love is preached, we fall short. The reason is because when who we are now (our nature) is put side by side God’s nature we will definitely fall short. This message is God’s nature being revealed to us. Let’s pray that we will receive help to align ourselves.
Sometimes, the Lord will just visit me and all I see is how good the Lord is. I wonder if I can ever be like Him; but where He is is where He desires us to be. Most times I’m left with “God help me!… Lord, help me be like you.” God is good; but man is not. How many of us will die for those who did wrong to us? It is a special heart disposition that comes into a conclusion like “Forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
“Thou will show me the path of life…”. We need to constantly see the path of life; if not, we will slip. Let’s pray that the Lord will constantly show us that path of life- for us to keep journeying. Amen.
