School of the Spirit (Ajegunle) (17th April, 2015.)

Pastor Thompson’s Exhortation:

I am trusting God for sprinkling and awakening to righteousness. I am praying that the angel that walks amidst the churches will help to strengthen that which is about to die; and help that which remains. I am trusting God for strength in the inner man. Let us welcome the servant of the Lord.

Ministering Pastor Emeka Egwuchukwu

Let us bow our hearts and strongly desire the Lord. The lord is the desire of our hearts.

Song 1:
As the deer pants
For the waters
My soul longs for You
As the body dies without water
My soul dies without You

My soul cries…
My soul cries for You.

“They” may say, “Come on, get over it.”
“Drink, be merciful, tomorrow we die.”
I’d rather sit in the house of mourning than at the table with fools
Blessed are the hungry
You said it, I believe it
Hunger is the escort to deeper things of you
You satisfy…

My soul cries….
My soul cries for You.

Take me to the place where you satisfy
Take me to the river
I’ll do anything
God there is no price
Take me to the river
They may say, “Come on get over it; Everything is okay.”
They may say, “Why the hunger, why the thirsting, Why the mourning.”
But my soul cries
My soul cries….

My soul cries…
My soul cries for You.

Song 2:
Baptize my heart with Your fire

I don’t wanna be offended
I don’t wanna be offended
I don’t wanna be offended
When its all coming down

I wanna be for you; not against You
I wanna be with You where You are

I pledge my allegiance to Jesus! To Jesus!!
I pledge my allegiance to the lamb!!!

Consume us, consume us, consume us, consume our souls. Lord consume us with Your fire. We thank You for You will help us. We look up to you for great mercy and great grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Revelation 1:1-20
One of the consolations I find here is that: The Lord, the one who who spoke to John, said, “I am the first and the last.” (Rev. 1:11).

We’ve been discussing the issue of “works”- the first works and the second works.

Revelation 1:11
“Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.”

The person saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega.” is really not the Lord Himself; but the angel of the Lord. John took time to describe the appearance of this angel. Whatever that angel did was exactly what the Lord was doing. This angel (His angel) was not allowed to do any other thing save that which the Lord Jesus was doing.

In the context of today’s teaching, the Lord introducing Himself as “Alpha” and “Omega” will mean He is the “first work” and “second work”. This then will mean that He (the Lord) has in Himself what it takes to accomplish the first and seconds works. You cant accomplish any of these “works” without Him.

The first work begins with the revelation of Him. This means that work is not done if Jesus has not been revealed. Any work you call work outside that which was accomplished by the revelation of Jesus Christ is not a work that can be presented to Him. “Works” begin by the revelation of Him.

Revelation means understanding. There are revelations in other areas of scripture. When you come to the milk of the word, you’ll also need understanding (revelation); but today, I’m speaking of the understanding that comes by the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of the Lord (Eph. 1:17).

The Ephesian church had the milk of the word available to them. I know this because they had faith in the Lord Jesus; and love for all saints (Eph. 1:15).

Faith towards God is the same as faith in the Lord Jesus. In the old testament, faith in the Lord Jesus is called faith towards God; since the Son (Jesus Christ) was not made manifest yet; all they knew was Jehovah; though they had prophecies concerning the Son of God. Israel had a revelation of Jehovah; and that was all they could get; but that was not the clearest form of light.

Hebrews 1:1
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets…”

God wanted to unveil all of Himself to Israel, but He was limited. The clearest revelation of God is found in the Son. Throughout the old testament, all the encounters of God were “Jehovah encounters”- Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Nissi and so on.

The old testament didn’t have the clearest form of revelation that could bring us to God’s image and likeness (Heb. 1:1-3). The clearest form of revelation is hidden in the Son. We will begin to have the clearest form of God’s revelation when the Son of God starts shining.

Malachi 4:2
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

When the Son shines, our eyes receive healing. We have been impaired in our sight. We’ve been blind. The prophets themselves spoke with a great degree of blindness; they didn’t fully understand what they were saying. They even inquired to know (1Pet. 1:10).

The Son is the sun of righteousness. When the Son begins to shine, He will heal our sight; that we might be able to see God and enter into God. You can’t enter God without sight. You can’t enter God without having seen Him.

God is that tabernacle with “the beautiful gate”, and one who is disabled cannot enter; but remain at the gate. Any disability will make you stay outside the camp. The blind, the lame, lepers, and so on will all be at the beautiful gate; but cannot have entrance. “The sun of righteousness will begin to heal your sight to see God; that you might enter God.” Amen!

It is a principle in the spirit: You can’t partake of what you haven’t seen. You need to see God to enter God.

1 John 1:1
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life…”

God is the inheritance of the saints in light (Col. 1:12). You can enter heaven and not enter God. All you need to enter heaven is just to breathe your last; but it takes more than this to enter God. God wants souls to stay here to see Him and enter Him.

God is the tabernacle we must all enter; but we can’t enter Him except our eyes be healed by the revelation of the sun of righteousness.

Faith towards God is called faith in the Lord Jesus because the word became flesh and was manifest (John 1:14). We saw Jehovah in the flesh packaged as Emmanuel or Adonai; and His name is Jesus Christ. From that moment on, faith towards God became faith in the Lord Jesus.

John 14:1
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

You need to believe Jesus to believe the Father. All the things that happened in the gospel and in the beginning of acts were all faith towards God now made faith in the Lord Jesus. From hence, everything was done in the name of Jesus. You can’t make a sick man whole in the name of God; it is inaccurate; there is no other name. You can’t say, “In the name of God, I bless you.” We bless in the name of Jesus.

There was a name that faith towards God could access; but that name was of the glory and honour of the first Adam.

Hebrews 2:7
“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands…”

One of our biggest problems is that we don’t really know who the first Adam was (before He fell); and we can’t know him until we have the complete revelation of Jesus. Adam was called son of God. It is sons that have names.

“Name” is not what people call you, it is your authority. God won’t release names to you without you being a son. There is an authority which faith in the Lord Jesus can access. Faith in the Lord Jesus can access the realm of invisibility to an extent; and take power within the jurisdiction of the name; but that name is not all there is of God.

That name which Jesus handled when He was on earth, with which He did signs and wonders, is not the very power that resides in His revelation. God created authorities. There is no authority without God.

Romans 13:1
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

Anyone who goes against authority is going against the ordinance of God. God ordained authority, although there are authorities outside Him. Angels have authority; they got it from God (Ezek. 28:14).

Colossians 1:16
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him…”

Authority is God’s own. He’s the one who engineered various authorities; but it’s different that which is in Him.

Jesus had the glory and honour of Adam; but he didn’t settle with it. What He carried was the revelation of Jehovah to Israel; but He didn’t settle on that; He was on a transit; going for something else.

We can now begin to talk of the faith of the Son or the operation of the faith that is in Him.

The beginning of the faith of the Son is the opening of eyes. It is when you begin with the faith of the Son that you are commencing the first work. Work is not that which was done when we laid hands on the sick; or when we cast out demons: All those things are not considered as “the work”. The description of “the work” is “I am the first and the last. If I’m not unveiled, work is not done.”

First work begins with the eyes of understanding being enlightened in the knowledge of Him- the revelation of God in its clearest and purest form; found in the Son. This is the beginning of the work.

Colossians 1:9
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding…”

Ephesians 1:17-18
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints…”

The knowledge of Him is the knowledge of His will. What you find in Jesus is will. When you pray, you should pray “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” But how can “will” be done on earth when the earth hasn’t been filled with the knowledge of the will (God).

The Kingdom coming is God coming. God is kingdom. To make God come you have to pray. You can pray and feel God close, yet, He hasn’t come to you. God comes, first, by revealing His will. As the knowledge of His will is being revealed, it will trigger off a work which is required for Him to come. A soul or a church that doesn’t finish the first and second works will not receive God. God is the inheritance. God is the reward. Your bringing Him is your entrance into Him. Before God comes near, you have to draw near [Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…(Jam. 4:8a)]. God and we will keep drawing near till we both jam. It will be “I in you and you in me”; till we are inseparable.

Entrance into the kingdom is entrance into God.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God…”

The revelation of the son will trigger you to walk a walk. Walk is obedience; and this obedience is as a result of “open eyes”. This is a different kind of obedience. Here, standard has been raised.

Initially, you walked and obeyed with your eyes shut; but this obedience comes by your sight being healed by the shining of the sun of righteousness; whose light you will then have to obey. The walk informed by the faith of the son and faith towards God are not the same.

To the church in Ephesus, Paul called faith in the Lord Jesus “your faith” (Eph. 1:15). The Lord saw their faith in the Lord Jesus and their love for saints; and was moved to graduate them. It’s like God telling Abraham: “After I saw you make and keep an oath with Abimelech, I knew I too could cut an oath with you.” These are the things that draw God down… In the last days, men would be truce breakers (2 Tim. 3:1-3).

God will say, “I saw you loving your brother. I was watching how you trusted me. I watched how you put your brother’s need before yours. When I saw you could engage men in faith and love, I knew you could engage Me.” You cant engage God if you haven’t engaged men.

Abraham’s own swearing were by his legs (obedience).

Hebrews 6:18
“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us…”

The two immutable things are the first work and second work; they are to bring you to the likeness and image of God.

Colossians 1:10
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God…”

My obedience is my walk. My obedience is my walk. When I walk I have obeyed. This is not physical transportation. When a soul obeys God, it has been upgraded; it has been quickened. It is this quickening that is called “work”. The quickening which the soul acquires through obedience is what is called work. This work is not what you can do but what would be wrought in you. When you’ve walked worthy, fruits would show. These fruits are “good work” [Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ… (Phil. 1:6)]. The Lord will finish the first work and initiate the second work. He has the first work and the second work.

When a soul has obeyed revelations of Him, it is quickened. Your obedience is your building [And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matt. 16:18)]

Don’t waste your time saying I’ve been in the Lord for 20 years now and no work has been done. It is not how long; although I’m not discarding years. Heaven doesn’t count years (12 calendar months); they count obedience. Someone can be 5 years old in the Lord and would have done more works than one who has been 20 years in the Lord.

I look at Pastor Tope and Pastor Ayo (Pastors in the ministy) nurse their children… I have also nursed my children from their cradle; till they grew this old. A man of God may desire engagement but God desires enlargement. God will stretch and enlarge you with children in the physical so that He can commit spiritual children into your hands. I remember Jessica (Pastor Emeka’s first daughter) wouldn’t sleep until she was lying down on my chest. You must be able to nurse your spiritual children.

The essence of being enlarged is not just to pastor people but to be able to carry spirit. You can’t minister spirit when you’re not stretched/enlarged. There is no formula man can teach you to preach in the spirit. It may just be an instruction to fix breakfast for your wife every morning; and you wont understand what you’re doing. They know where you’re sitting. They know your constitution against the Spirit; and so they know how to break your constitution. The right constitution is what helps you carry spirit easily.

Sometimes, the Lord will ask you to love your wife unconditionally; regardless of what she says or doesn’t say; do or doesn’t do. When I receive such instructions, I know something is about to rest. When you obey those instructions, work is done; and you will be quickened by eternal life.

Colossians 1:10
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God…”

“The knowledge came, you walked, and then you increased in the knowledge of God. As you’re obeying, work is being done; and you’re increasing.

“First work” has its stature- Its beginning and its end. The Lord is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2). The first work has a measurement you must complete.

Revelation 2:19
“I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.”

The Faith of the Son can be called the curriculum of the first work; although these first works are in grades. They comprise of your faith, your service, your patience and your love. Heaven will measure these: to know if your work is lacking or perfect. “Love” under the “first works” scheme is not love towards the saints; it is the love of the Father. You will then graduate to the second work to see what the Father loves: clearly.

There are levels. There are heights you must not fall short of. The Lord does’nt want us to lack at all.

The ingredients of the “first works” provides substances for your soul to war. In the “second works” arena, they begin to teach you rest. The first work teaches you how to live; while the second work teaches you to abide.

You need to fight to live- to obey even when it’s contrary- even when it is against you. If “you” remains, you can’t enter the second work.

He that has entered his rest has ceased from his own works. The “second works” is a sabbatical work- a work of rest. The whole epistle is speaking the same thing.

What ensures constant revelation is nothing but obedience. In my walk with God, when I fall short of an obedience, I carry it over. I’ve carried over some things. When you carry over a work, you have to pray you don’t miss it again. Sometimes we carry over these “obediences” like two to three times over. Those times, we didn’t understand why obedience was necessary; we thought it was optional.

Heaven brings light to us so that fruits can be pressed out to bring in the knowledge of God in abundance. If you like cry- “God I want to know you.”; heaven will not respond until you have met up with some obedience. You have to pass the course of obedience. Just be willing; heaven will keep repeating the test for you. But Grace, when it comes the first time, is always easier and sweeter. When you carry over a course in school, added to the ones you’re supposed to be doing now, the workload gets harder.

There’s this programme on TBN- anchored by Sid Roth…He interviewed a man of God who had some radical experiences. You would wonder at those experiences. Sid Roth asked the man what is secret was; and the man said “Quick obedience”. Quick obedience is quick walk. Heaven need you to obey and bear fruits; before they increase knowledge. They wouldn’t increase this knowledge until you are is finished with the first work.

All these levels in the faith of the Son are levels of might. My obeying is strengthening. My strengthening is my quickening. How much strength you have is how much life you have trapped. The life of God is His strength. If you don’t have His life, you’re not strong- you’re not strong against darkness or against death.

Colossians 1:10-11
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness…”

The faith of the Son spells out His glorious power. This power is divine power. The reason why I’m being strengthened is so that I might endure all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. These things are quantified with “All”; meaning- they are in measures. Longsuffering is in measures. Patience is in measures. When you’re not strong, you won’t be patient. It takes strength to be longsuffering. You must finish the patience and longsuffering measurements. These attributes are attributes of divine nature.

James 5:7-8
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.”

God is patient. He has strength; and He can suffer long. It takes life to be patient. How long you can suffer shows how much life you have. Short longsuffering is short life span. God abides forever like a rock- like a mountain. [They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. (Ps. 125:1)]

The strength of abiding is patience and longsuffering- Longsuffering and patience; without grumbling- with joyfulness. This is abiding.

Psalm 16:11
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

God is joy. The Son is joy; but the father is the fullness of joy. What kept Jesus obeying was because He was looking at God- He was looking at Joy. Jesus entered and sat at the right hand of pleasures forevermore. Jesus is enjoying God; that’s why he’s beckoning on us to come.

The Father is Joy- We don’t know this realm of Joy; we just speak of it. When you’re arriving at the Father, heaven will use “oil” to welcome you. When you’re anointed to minister, you feel Joy- Something inside you feels like flower-petals blooming. The Father is Joy unspeakable- full of glory.

The trinity are all Joy. The Holy Ghost is Joy; Jesus is Joy; and the Father is the fullness of Joy. This Joy means strength.

Let me share this: My wife noticed that I drive too fast; especially when I’m just done preaching. I had noticed it happens when I had just finished ministering under a heavy anointing. The problem is the anointing; and that’s the truth. I am driving, manoeuvring and yet I’m not making mistakes. Sometimes I have to drive like that for the unction to go away. The anointing needs to wane quickly so you can know your original or normal strength. This is the anointing that comes upon you to navigate doors in the spirit. Please, this is not an excuse to drive roughly; but this experience is almost like drinking and driving. You can be so charged and high in the Spirit. Now, imagine when you get to the Father’s presence!

I was preaching about the Holy Ghost in one Anglican church. I taught the Holy Ghost as “wine”. There was a man who loved to drink alcohol in that meeting; and so he was just enjoying and revelling in the sermon. After the meeting, he came to meet me to tell me that he always tells his wife that she doesn’t understand what he gains from alcohol.  But the truth is: Alcohol can’t fill the soul. The soul knew a little bit of Joy before; but he lost it; so when it sees anything that looks like God, it takes a lot to break him.

Jesus is addicted to God. He kept saying, “My Father! My Father!!”

Can we lift our hands? If there is anyway we are still lacking in the first works?… He who began it will accomplish it. When we are set on the standard of the first work, we won’t be lacking. God help us. Your eyes are like flames of fire; Father, please, we are naked before You. Please let this work be completed. Don’t leave us alone; hold us. Let there be an accelerated process of this work. Quick obedience! We will not argue with you. We will not struggle with light.

Let’s begin to give thanks unto the Lord.

Tongues and Interpretation 1
Run the race set before you. A race has been measured out for you. It is a race you must run with patience. It is a race you must run to gain mastery- a race you must run to overcome. Run the race. Don’t consider the wind. Don’t consider the obstacles. Don’t consider the contrary. Run with patience. Run to finish. Run the race. The race is the work that you must run; and it is the work I must wrought in you. Run the race.

Tongues and Interpretation 2
My Spirit is a door. My Son is a door. I am a door. We are all doors. But you must run into My Spirit. You must come into My Spirit. And you will come into My Son. For My Son will open the door for you to come to me. Come to My Son. Come through the door.

I will cause strength to come to you from these doors. My Spirit is strength; My Son is strength; I am strength. I measure out strength for you. I measure out strength for you in the Spirit. I measure out strength for you in the Son. I measure out strength for you in Myself.

I will give Myself to you. I am bound to My Son; My Son is bound to me; and we are bound to the Ghost. You can’t have My Spirit and not desire My Son. You can’t have My Son and not desire Me.

Run to achieve this. Run into the Holy Ghost. Move into the Holy Ghost. We can’t be separated. Move with My Spirit. Move to achieve this. Move together with My Spirit.

Pastor Thompson rounding off…
Let us thank the Lord for many “entrances” into the Holy ghost. We are entering into doors of the Spirit. Amen.

The end
