Speaker 5: Pastor Danladi

Hebrews 10:19-22
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water”

Like we have heard that what draws near to God is a pure heart, what stopped the church in the wilderness from drawing near to God is an unbelieving heart. The custodian of ways is the heart; it’s the heart that thinks. The thoughts of the heart are higher than the mind and what draws near to God is a true heart. The issue of drawing near to God is a critical issue of the heart. In the parable of the sower, Luke accounts that the seeds fell on different heart states; what makes the word impotent is the surface on which the word is sown.

When we gather, we receive seed, but immediately we step out, there is a scorching of the sun and this is why we can’t make full profit of the seed we have received. Some gistings take place that can dry up life; these are activities of the sun that come to dry up life. Fowls of the air com to steal the words too. Coming to hear is part of the work, but keeping it  is difficult. Abraham warred with fowls of the air. When a deep sleep comes upon you and there is no sister or brother to encourage you, in your closet, how do you keep the word?

The word needs moisture, enough moisture to grow. I did farming in the North and I know ground is dry and the ground knows how to make the seed impotent. A good farmer waits for rain; one of the most difficult thing is ploughing the ground. There must be a state the heart is for it to receive and produce, if not, it will not produce  maximally. Tilling the heart is not easy, it is back breaking. The land is not one plot, it is vast; Yielding of our hearts must be done -our hearts is the strongest member.

We wait for rain; when we come for meetings and rain comes, we don’t plough our hearts and make it tender because of life. Ploughing is the turnings of the heart – repentance; repentance is the turning of the heart. You have to stay in the place of repentance for some sins; for years you beg God and cry. For some, it is thorns, deceitfulness of sin and lust of the flesh. Some of us after meetings, it’s like we are ready – with all the readiness of hearts, but after a while, it wanes.

The reason for all these is for harvest; it is where God becomes your reward and bringing the seed to rejoicing; God  is not cheap. “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off” (Mark 9:43) – we don’t have that desperation yet; all these seeds I have been hearing, why is it not bearing fruits. Then, we would think; why would our father have us till, why can’t he get servants to do it, it is too hard! Adam was told to till the garden. What do we allow in our hearts? Malice, hatred etc. Adam was told to tenderise the garden; God needs a tender heart, the more tender the heart is, the more it can produce. A hard heart is what makes us stiff necked.

When mouth is mentioned, think of the heart; We must pay heed of trafficking that happens in the heart; It  is the little foxes that spoil the vine. The second most difficult work is weeding: it is done often; this is the checking the heart lest there be any root of bitterness. The rain of righteousness can also be drank by grasses. The antichrist will spring from the church, he also must have received rain; rain, but having loved this present world.

There are some weaknesses we have that are stubborn; they have been rooted. We need to resist them unto the shedding of blood, we need to be that desperate. The grasses even grow faster that the seeds. We need constant keepers; God respects keepers! We will receive grace to watch.

There is a place of giving heed and earnest heed; Coming to meeting is heeding but more earnest heed is keeping. Weeds of Malice, envy, evil speaking cut be cut. There is evil speaking of the flesh and there is evil speaking of sons. We must not allow any root of bitterness. Adam did not keep his garden, that’s why the serpent was allowed entrance.

Psalms  133:3
“As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore”

The mountains of Zion are soft; what keeps it soft is the dew it receives. When God comes to it, it can respond. Dew is soft rain for the planting of seed and it has no resistance to God. God, You would help us to keep this heart tender; our hearts are not pure yet, help us Lord!
