Proverbs 14:34 KJV
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
The way God blesses His people is to exalt them. There is only one way to exaltation. It is the way of righteousness. God doesn’t just exalt any how. He exalts on the basis of righteousness.
God had to impute in Abraham righteousness because he believed and this facilitated his exaltation.
It was written about Jesus that “He loved righteousness and hated iniquity, therefore God anointed Him… above His fellows”. This was also rendered in another place as “wherefore God also has highly exalted Him and gave Him a name which is above every other name”.
Righteousness for Jesus was to be humble in obedience even to the point of death. He did not assume equality with God even though He was equal with God. But Jesus fully submitted Himself to God and His will.
For Abraham, he simply believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness. He never assumed to know more than God but believed whatever the mouth of the Lord says. He was fully persuaded that He that promised is able to perform it.
David prayed and said “…He leads me on the path of righteousness because His name is at stake.”
The ultimate intent of God is to raise us but He must first teach us and lead us on the path of righteousness. It is also called the way of truth.
On the other hand, sin is a reproach to any people. Sin is a cankerworm that eats up the life of any individual. We cannot afford to play with sin. The end of sin is death. That’s why it’s called sin and death. The end of righteousness is life.
Righteousness exalts above the hold of death. Sin attacks us with death. Righteousness exalts above the limitations of the flesh. Choose righteousness that you may live.
The Lord exalt you today. Live righteous. Live responsibly. God bless you.
