Joshua 2:13 KJV
And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
The story of Rahab have been like a fiery tale to most people over the years. The best any could afford to show to us is a woman who was an harlot, a first class one at that and one who used her whorish skill to bargain her freedom and later became a part of the lineage of Jesus Christ. There is more to her life. She is a woman of Faith.
Rahab believed in the saving Grace of the Lord even when others didn’t. Others who also heard of the exploits of the Israelites as occasioned by their God were terrified but also had plans to fight against them should time demand. They gave themselves to training and prepared for war in case it came to that. They resulted to works rather than log in to Faith. Rahab would not do this, she simply log on to Grace which produced Faith and her Faith initiated salvation not for her only but for her immediate family and her generation unborn.
Many times in life, we seem to depend more on works than on Faith. Without faith, we cannot live gracefully, and without graceful living, we cannot appropriate salvation.
As an harlot, she was not fit for the master’s use but when she launched into Faith for Salvation, Grace found her and qualified her for Salvation.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of work, so that no man will boast.
One grave mistake I continually see is that people come to salvation knowing fully.well that it was Grace that brought them in, yet they judge critically others according to works and would also attempt to please God by their works. Nothing else pleases God but Faith. “For without Faith, no man can please God.”
This Faith is not just Faith for things but Faith for Salvation. Like Rahab, can we ask God for Salvation in Faith? And not for ourselves only but for our families also. Do we believe so much in the saving Grace of the Lord that can produce eternal salvation in us and in other members of our family?
It’s time to live by Faith and not by works “for the just shall live by Faith”. Nothing else but Faith. Let Faith bring you into Grace and let the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ produce salvation in you and all. God bless you. Remain blessed.
