Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

What comes first to our minds when we go through certain difficulties in life? What kind of thoughts flow through our minds when it seems that life is not working the way we suppose? Do we easily see it as the devil fighting us or God trying to communicate something to us? Note: How you see determines how you overcome.

God’s love is sovereign. His love is encompassing. His love is infinitely enduring. Yet also, in His love He rebukes and chastens. And we must come to this understanding about the Father’s love.

God loves us to the point that He can give us all things. “Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Yet also in His love, He can take everything away from us so He can get our attention. His love is supreme.

In whatsoever situation we find ourselves, we must realise that God loves us and would not allow us to perish. His intention for us is to bring us into utmost salvation, into His rest. In His love, He led Israel into slavery for over 400 years so He could one day bring them into His rest. Unfortunately, they never understood His plan hence, they murmured all the way, exercising unbelieve to the extent that they couldn’t enter His rest.

Many times, the reason why God allow us go through certain conditions in life is to bring us into divine rest but we like the Israelites complain, whine and murmur all the way thereby exercising unbelieve. We can never enter His rest like that. ” Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

I can assure you that God is aware of the situation you are in and His intention is to bring into His rest. Ask Job, he would explain this to you. When he was going through this, it wasn’t a pleasant experience but he stayed on. He endured. He stood against advice to curse God and die even when it came from his wife. He endured the tongue lashing of his friends till God showed up to vindicate him. And at the end, he entered into God’s rest.

Ask Abraham what it took him to wait upon the Lord for years of seeming childlessness. He had to hope against hope in trust that God “He that promised is able to do much more than He promised.” And at the end, God had worked in him extraordinarily faith to become the father of faith. He not only entered into God’s rest but also became a resting place for people, “Abraham’s bosom.”

Let God work out the process in you. Be humble under the mighty hand of the Lord. This you must know and be certain of “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8:28. All you need do is rest in the Lord. God bless you.
