Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Each day of our lives, we wake up to a new day, a renewed opportunity to live. Yesterday is gone. Today presents to us another opportunity to live better than we lived yesterday. We wake into a renewed mercy of the Lord that is new every morning.
Blessed is the Lord who does not judge us by our imperfections of yesterday before giving us life today. He.daily loads us with mercy such that we can live each day by the mercies of the Lord. Hence, Jesus says to us “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matt.6:34. Many live in the thought of tomorrow that they fail to live in the realities of today’s challenges. And many live in the errors of the past that they corrupt the prospect of living rightly today.
One of those daily benefits God loads us with is Mercy. Mercy is God’s infinite love expressed in being good, kind and favourable to us in spite of our ways of life. Mercy is God overlooking our trespasses in the past just to show us favour today. Had it not been for the mercy of the Lord, we would have been consumed. We live in a world that consumes its people. It is the world laden with sin and death.
Mercy presents us an opportunity to come into salvation. Salvation is coming into eternal life and peace. One of those words that has survived generations of preaching is “repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Tomorrow might be too late.” But each day we wake to another life, it’s God’s way of handing us another opportunity into salvation. So, do not despise the mercy of the Lord. Live right today. Come into salvation.
Yesterday was a mistake you may never love to remember. Yesterday ended in a way you regretted. You for some reasons failed to live unto God yesterday. You lived unrighteously yesterday. Today provides you that opportunity to say to a friend, ‘I’m sorry for my wrong acts’ and to God, ‘Help me to live today rightly.’ Today affords you the privilege to live godly denying all ungodliness. Today offers you an opportunity to amend your ways. The word ‘repent’ means to have a change of heart in thoughts and in acts. There is no better day than today. It’s a new day which comes with daily benefit of mercy.
You have an opportunity to live better than you lived yesterday. God is interested in you today. Just live in and by His mercies today. Before you go out today, talk to God in prayers. Sing songs of praise unto Him. Commit your ways to Him. And ensure to live according to His instructions. Live responsibly. God bless you.
