Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

We live in a world where people are ruled by darkness. And in the heart of these people dwells thick darkness.

We live in a world where wickedness is the order of the day. People do wickedness without regrets and apologies.

We live in a world where forwardness is rewarded as being smart and perversion is encouraged as being intelligent.

As believers, we must declare the Lord as our light and salvation. He should be the strength of our lives. We are not permitted to use the light of this world, neither can we look up to this world for our salvation. We cannot also draw strength from anything earthly. The Lord must be all these to us.

There is a type of light that runs the lives of people and that light is a distorted and per versed light. It is called darkness. The people naturally respond to the ideas and concepts of the dark. But as children of light, we must also walk in the light. And not just any kind of light, but the light that issues out from the Lord.

Light relates to knowledge, way of life, perceptions, perspectives…. What runs our knowledge? How do we conduct our lives? What are our perceptions to right living? And what’s our perspectives to life? What type of knowledge runs our lives? These will show the type of light that runs our life. Some run their lives according to intelligence from their academics or choice career. Christ ought to be our light.
John 1:4, 9 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Everyday of our lives, we try to seek refuge from one thing to the other. We always look for something that can cover us from something. But the question remains, where do we seek our salvation from. Salvation means absolute peace and safety. We know that there is nothing in this world that guarantees absolute safety ‘cos the world is in chaos begging for peace.

There’s only one who can guarantee absolute peace and safety and that’s God. In Him is eternal peace and safety. His name is Salvation.
Isaiah 60:18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls, and thy gates Praise.

Many times, we rarely draw our strength from Christ. We draw strength from many other sources. We give ourselves to wanting to become something in this life at the expense of our life in Christ.

Strength relates to achievements. It also relates to that which we think can guarantee our wellbeing in life. And so, you find people diligently seeking higher academic qualifications, yet they can spend diligent time studying the word of God. We spend time building our relationships with our spouses at the expense of our relationship with God. We build our CVs in our careers yet we see service to God as secondary. We gather all other things as strength, Christ being a supportive factor to all others.

Friend, the reason why fear still pervades your life is because the Lord is not your light, salvation and strength. When the Lord becomes these to you, you’ll not be afraid of the devices of the devil and his cohorts. Therefore, let the Lord be your LIGHT, SALVATION AND STRENGTH. That’s the only guarantee of total and absolute victory.

God bless you. Have a blessed day.
