John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:15-16 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

The Vail was an obstruction to directly worshiping God. The law brought about the veiling of people’s heart. The law created a middle wall of partition between God and man, a point of reaching God other than direct worship.

When God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, they couldn’t understand the concept of worship to God without fear in Spirit and in truth. They grumbled and murmured all the way, hence, they needed a guide, a law, a school master (Gal.3:24) that will help them reach out to God.

God demanded to speak to all the people of Israel, (Exo.19:9) but when they saw the terror of the Lord and the appearing of the Lord, they quaked and ran away from His presence leaving Moses to the Lord. The created more separation between God and the People. Therefore God gave them the Law, yet Moses seem not to be bound by the law.

The Law is perfect yet could not bring the people to perfection.
The Law is Holy but cannot make the people Holy.
The Law is good, yet cannot teach the people to do good.
The law is righteous but couldn’t make the people righteous.

The more the people live under the law, the more they became sin conscious. They couldn’t approach God with a clear conscience. They were always limited by their inability to fulfill the whole demand of the law hence, they need to make sacrifices. They were not blessed because they kept the whole law but because of the atonement or sacrifices rendered for their sins.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point , he is guilty of all.

Without grace and truth, there can never be direct access to worship God. God is a Spirit and they that must worship Him must do that in the Spirit and in the Truth. To worship God under the operations of the law is to worship God mechanically. It can never be in the Spirit and in the truth.

This is one of the prophecies of Zachariah, the Father of John in reference to the work of John in preparation for the operations of Jesus Christ, ” Luke 1:74-75 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.”

In the law is no liberty of worship but in Christ is freedom and liberty to worship God without fear, in holiness and righteousness. Religion is built on the law, man bound by restrictions to worshiping in liberty. Jesus and His disciples were not bound by the law yet fulfilled all the demands of the law.

The law is fulfilled in one word, Love. God couldn’t teach the Israelites love. He tried but they couldn’t understand. So, He had to introduce the law such that when they become matured they could do away with the law, yet they became crazily attached to the law that it became difficult to separate them from the law. They never learnt to love. Love is the true vehicle of worship not the law.

We still somehow tie ourselves round the law. We seem to feel better under the law than the simple task of love. In love, the entire law is fulfilled. That’s why Jesus who was the definition of God’s love was the fulfilment of the law. He never struggled with trying to keep the law. He lived superior to the law. He lived above the law.

If you learn Christ, you’ll learn to live in love.
If you learn Christ, you’ll live in grace and in truth.
If you learn Christ, you’ll worship God in Spirit and in truth.
If you learn Christ, you’ll serve God without fear, in holiness and in righteousness.
If you learn Christ, you’ll walk in liberty.
If you learn Christ, you’ll be free from the dominion of sin and death.

Learn Christ and not the law.
Live in love, and not in the law.
Fulfil the demand of love and not the dictates of the law.
Live in grace and walk in truth that you may serve Him in Spirit and in Truth.

And as we behold His face without a veiled face, we are turned into the same image as Christ.
Grace will keep you till the end. Truth will guide you all the way. And you’ll end up in life eternal. Worship God in Love. God bless you.
