Song of Solomon 2:9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.

Psalm 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Our relationship with God is a love story. The entire creation story is a love story that almost went south with the fall of man. God falling in love with man, but man fell out of love into lust with Satan and this world.

Salvation is God’s effort to restore the broken relationship between God and man, Jesus being the instrument of reconciliation. God so loved the world that He did all to restore man back to Himself.

Hence, He refers to us as His beloved also describing us as a young hart. As a beloved bride of the Lord, the scripture shows us how we need to be desperate to see, hear, and hold on to our groom. This must be our attitude as the beloved of the Lord always eager to be in the arms of our Lord to hear His voice, see His face, spend all our lives with Him.

The Psalmist described the relationship like this “my soul runs, pants, seeks, for God just as the hart pants after the water brooks.

The water for the hart is its sustenance without which it will die of thirst and also open itself to attack because of the offensive odour it will generate for lack of water. That odour attracts death.

Like the Samaritan woman, we seek for love but we have moved from one to another and to another till we have had six different affairs but we need the right relationship built on unending love, Christ being the definition of eternal Love.

She also sought to fetch water which after she drinks from will always go back to again because that type of water cannot satisfy the soul. But Jesus offers a water that when you drink from, you’ll never thirst again for out of you shall flow rivers of living water.

It’s time to seek the one that is eternal in love. It’s time to seek Christ who is our only source of love. It’s time to forsake all other to seek One. We will produce offensive odour(sin) and will automatically attract death if we do not seek the water of life that issues out from Christ.

God help your decision to seek nothing else but Christ. Don’t miss the love of Christ with any other kind of love, it adultery. Let your eyes be single. Seek Christ alone. God bless you.
