TURN THE OTHER SIDE

“But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” (Matthew 5:39). KJV

“But I say to you, Do not resist the evil man [who injures you]; but if anyone strikes you on the right jaw {or} cheek, turn to him the other one too.” (Matthew 5:39). AMP.

This is one of scriptures that many of us interpret as turning the other cheek, yes, it’s true and I will never object to that. I would just like you to see into this insight of “turning the other sight”.

Taking a look at the verse again it says “But I say to you, Do not resist the evil man [who injures you]” ofcourse we know that the Bible says resist the devil and he will flee from you, its like a rebuke. This says resist not evil, and then notice the symbol that follows it, it went on to explain what it meant. Amplified makes it clearer, “But I say to you, Do not resist the evil man [who injures you]” who injures you. Never to rebuke him? Does this make any sense to you?

Now when I saw this, I believe that maybe what the Lord was saying was to turn on our love nature which is also of Him. You see, one way to overcome is evil is not evil. A lot of us feel evil is the way out. No! That’s why we must trust and allow God to help (to take a hold together with) us walk out the love nature in us.

Now if your brother slaps your cheek, you are to turn the other side. I don’t want to be carried away by just looking at it at the view of it being physical alone. I noted that most of the word of Jesus were not so direct as we see them in the sense that He comes down to speak our language to us. What the Lord was actually saying is this, when your brother wrongs you, you need to turn the other, how? He did evil to you but don’t respond with evil, turn to him in love.

I know that some folks can endure slaping very well yet after turning the other cheek to receive another hot slap they would go away yet still be angry and some may even give words like “in your life if you see me take this route, kindly take another route”. Some people can so endure anything! But how many can endure to just show love?

Indeed this is a hard saying! When your brother offends you please TURN THE OTHER-LOVE! The other side to evil is not evil. The other side you are expected to turn is LOVE. Now let’s see the scripture again, “But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.(Matthew 5:39). KJV
“But I say to you, Do not resist the evil man [who injures you]; but if anyone strikes you on the right jaw {or} cheek, turn to him the other one too.” (Matthew 5:39). AMP.

In this I submit this to you that we must trust the love to help us, by the nature of man no man can do this save is given from above.

Turning the other side of evil to be love is hard but we receive grace to. We will grow in love and our love nature will arise to God stature in love. God is faithful!
