Titus  1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Psalms 18:26   With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

The state of our heart is very important to God. Our heart is so precious to God since that is the place of connectivity with God. It is therefore important to ensure a good state of mind.

The heart has so much influence on the mind. The mind is the seat of emotions and thoughts. It represents the soul of man, while the heart represents the spirit of man.

The Lord wants our heart pure so we can attract things that are pure into it. The heart attracts it’s state. What you attract reflects the state of your heart, therefore, the scripture enjoins us to maintain a pure heart.

While Jesus was teaching on the mount, He said, “blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” It therefore means one of the major criteria for seeing God is purity of the heart.

Two things Apostle Paul referred to as making the heart impure are; defilements and unbelieve.

To be defiled means to be corrupted, to be adulterated. It also has a root meaning with the word ‘adultery’ which means to be given to multiple ways of life, not to be singularly focus. God wants us to be pure, undefiled by many things, singularly focused on Him. Jesus said, “…if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness….” Matt.6:22-23.

To be unbelieving means to distrust the word of God, to harbour doubts over the word of the Lord. Let me also say here that unbelieve has an extended meaning into adultery. Unbelieve will always lead one to seek external help apart from the sole help. What drives people into adultery is unbelieve.

Therefore, God wants us to remain pure in the heart, not defiled because of unbelieve. Can you purify yourself? No. God is the only purifier. So, we need to submit ourselves to the purification of the Lord and remain seated under Him. Malachi 3:3  And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Prayer focus: Lord purify my heart today so that my mind may also become pure.

God bless you.
