Jeremiah 17:23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
Jeremiah 32:33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
The causes of failure many atimes is the misunderstanding of the requirements or absolute neglect of vital information needed. Ignorance is not good and many fail and fall because of their ignorance but worst still is not paying attention to details of instructions guiding an operation.
Jesus said, John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. And Paul said this about Jesus, Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
What was paramount to Jesus and His Apostles were not building edifices on earth, having all the degrees this world can offer, becoming the president of the world, seeking fame and popularity, playing and partying….. Their interest and most felt desire was to do the will of God, by obeying in details the daily instructions of God for their lives.
In response to the devil temptation for Jesus to turn stone to bread, Jesus said, “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word(instruction) that proceeds out of the mouth of God”. Therefore, we understand that our lives cannot be sustained by food, cloths, shelter (these being the core of the things we seek) but by the instructions of God for daily living.
Hence, Jesus taught us to pray and He said, “give us this day, our daily bread” and for the food mentality we have, we have always looked that as what to eat of a daily basis. May I say to you that what Jesus was asking for relates to daily instructions from God. Daily instructions that will guide our daily lives.
Therefore, as we desire to walk with Christ not in eye service or just mental worship, we need to trust God for daily instructions for our lives which will guide our daily interactions with the world.
Lastly, Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Let’s not harden our hearts. The way to harden one’s heart is to disobey the instructions of God, or to neglect it. Many of us trivialize the word of God by saying it doesn’t matter. It matters. Your obedience is the saving of generations. Your disobedience is the damnation of generations to come. Through Adam’s disobedience, sin and death passed to all, but through Jesus’ obedience, life and peace passed to all.
Which do you want for the coming generations? Let’s obey His instructions now that we may save the coming generations. God bless you.
