Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
As a follower of Christ, the scripture urges us to mind the things of the Spirit instead of concentrating on the matters of the flesh.
Like the popular motivational script, they say whatever you can conceive, you can achieve. And that has been the major ploy to make people more sensual than being spiritual.
We will not live a life pleasing unto God except we live by the Spirit. Our minds is a major part of the soul of man. And it is very important that we renew the mind always so that it will at the end measure up to the mind of Christ.
There is a way God wants us to position our mind. He desires that we set it on things above only, where Christ is sitting. Col.3:1-3.
As believers, we are not expected to have a mind controlled by the flesh or the cunning feelings of the soul because this will lead to death . But if our mind is controlled by the spirit, then we will have life and peace. Rom.8:6.
One of the promises of God to us is “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3. Please note the keyword there, ‘whose mind is stayed on thee (God).
On what or who is our mind stayed on? That’s a question I like us to answer with deep meditation.
Here is what the scripture advices;
Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
