Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.
To be without Christ is to be without life. Yes, without life. The essence of life is Christ and it’s evident in that He came so we can be restored back to life. Eph. 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.
Man was separated from God after the fall, hence, man died. To die is to be separated from life and anyone without Christ is condemned(to death) already. John. 3:16-19.
One can be close to God with the mouth but far from God in the heart. The place of our relationship with God is in the heart. Our heart is very important in relation to worship. Worship is not just an event or a slow song, it is a life that submits to God, a life of reverence unto God out of which songs may emanate. Jesus lived all His life as a worship(sacrifice) to God, yet He never rendered a psalm or an hymn. But you’ll find out that His life was always in synch with the life of God. He would not do anything except that which His Father says.
Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.
This is religion. The precepts of men are religious doctrines, ways, rules and regulations upon which church is conducted and the people’s conduct in church. It really has no bearing upon their lives.
Many love the church, not God. Many know their pastor, not Jesus Christ. Many know the church rules and regulation, not the word of God. Many are acquainted with the language of the church, not the language of the spirit. They are close to God with the mouth and they profess(honour, worship, reverence) God with their lips, yet the main instrument of worship is far from God.
To be without Christ is to be separated from sincere worship. A worship that takes place in Spirit and in Truth. It’s time to pray and say “Father, bring me close to you. Let Christ become real to me. I don’t want to know Christ just from the words of my pastor or my church, I want to have a personal revelation of Jesus Christ. And, Lord Jesus, dwell in my heart that I may offer worship to you in Spirit and in Truth.” Amen.
