Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
I used to have the general notion about destiny, until God started teaching me through this passage what my destiny truly is. If we do not have the right knowledge about this, we will live our lives vaguely like mere men, with no proper directions.
Many of us focus on our natural lives when talking about destiny. If we do this, we’ll get it wrong. Our passage today explains that as believers, we have just one destiny of which every event and happenings of life not only
respond to, but are dictated by it.
… For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son…
This is the singular destiny in which God has predestined us before the foundations of the earth TO CONFORM TO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST, to become like God. We do not know how God looks like, but we see christ, and Jesus said when you see me, you have seen the Father. Our destiny is for our Spirit, soul and body to daily CONFORM to the likeness of God. To grow and grow day by day, until we have entered into God and are one with Him. That will be impossible for us to achieve on our own, but must totally depend on God for it to come to pass. And He does that by making our day to day natural life experiences be such that make you conform to his ultimate will. If it doesn’t, then you’re just living your own life, treading the way that seems right to you… You may succeed in it and believe that you’ve had a good destiny, but no matter how successful you are in the natural, if you don’t end up in God, you’ve just wasted your life. But as sons of God, all of our natural life event must in one way or the other, tend towards the ultimate destiny. He knows what will do at every point of your live, right from the day you were born to the day you’ll die. The parent that must birth you in other to yield the best manner in which you must grow, the schools you must attend, the kind of wife/husband you must marry, the kind of job you’ll have to do, the life experiences you must have, so that we would end up as God wants you to be. Not as you want to be.
So let’s not esteem the natural life in expense of the real thing. Let us yield our lives to God’s will, His thoughts, plans towards our life are good not evil. And believe me, the good life, is the Gods life.
God bless you.
