John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
During the course of the week, we had stated that the word of God has capacity to cleanse us and make us pure again. John 15:3.
We also said that the word of God has capacity to quicken us(make us alive) and also make us powerful. Hebrew 4:12.
Also, we said the word of God will minister Faith to us rather than fear and that the Lord will Shield us and become our exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1.
Again, we said the word of God will take us through the process of sanctification whereby we will be separated and declared holy because the word of God is truth.
Now, to cap it all, having gone through all these stages, we need to now decide whether to live in the spirit or in the flesh. Many approach and use the word of God in the flesh and this will profit them nothing. We can use the word of God to chase after vanity and base our existence on that, but we will end up like Solomon who’s testimony was ‘vanity upon vanity’, all is vanity.’ Or be like Paul who lived by the spirit all through and has his testimony as ‘I have fought a good fight of faith, I have finished by course. Laid up for me is the crown of Glory.’
We see the scripture say to us, it is the spirit that quickens. We must live by the spirit in the word of God. The spirit of God must be the one teaching us this word and we also must decide(by mercy and grace) to walk by the spirit, lest we will fulfil the lust.
Rom. 8:1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Condemnation also relates to regret and eventual disappointment. Anyone who lives after the provisions of the flesh will live in perpetual regret or condemnation, one that usually lead to death. We are not permitted to walk after the flesh, but to walk according to the leading of the spirit. The flesh profits nothing. It will so regretful to live unto nothing(vanity). So, it’s better we live unto life. Anything done in the flesh will produce nothing. It may be beautiful, good looking, big, awesome…,it will amount to nothing. The glory of the flesh is as a grass that withers, it blossoms only for a little moment. Life eternal is a product of the spirit and this also has an eternal glory. See that one,and not the fading glory.
They are Spirit and they are life.
You cannot separate the word from the spirit and the spirit of God produces life. Anyone separated from the spirit will not gain life, such one will grow more in death and destruction. The word of God initiates us into the spirit life and as we hear or read them, we grow more in eternal life.
2 Cor.3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Friends, you do not have a choice but to live according to the word of God. We need to receive it with meekness on a daily basis. We also need to consciously(by grace and mercy) walk in the spirit so that life will be produced.
Paul had stated earlier in 2 Cor.3:6 that “the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
Live by the spirit and life will be ministered unto you. God bless you.
