Deuteronomy 8:2-3 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD).
Often times as christians, we are confounded with this question: HOW DO I KNOW WHAT AM GOING THROUGH IS A TRIAL?
I ask myself that question a lot, that am I sure am not the one responsible for my own dilemma?
So the actual question is; what makes a real trial? I was reading through Deut. 8 and the Holy spirit started giving me some understanding.
What makes a trial?
A trial is not the weight of its negativity, like a lot of us assume, but it is the weight of its impact in our lives. Even though trials are painful moments, physical, psychological, emotional, or any wise, its main purpose is not to inflict pain or sorrow on us, its purpose is to change something in us. So if you go thru an unpleasant situation and you’re still the same person u used to be, it just proves dat the situation wasn’t any trial. God’s reason for taking u through a trial may be because he has seen something that needs to be tackled in you, or even completely eradicated. But you might not see it, you may not see anything wrong anywhere, but He knows even the depth of our inward parts, David said: “search me…”.
Another reason why God allows trials is to teach us things that ordinary words cannot teach, but by experience.
Another reason is to build eternal virtues/treasures in us, such as Love, Faith, Hope, Meekness etc..
Trials for every christian varies. This is bc God knows us individually & he knows just what will do for each person. So its absurd if you make your trial a general theory, or u expect someone else to go through the same thing you went through/are going through. Also, for every individual, the weight is often different, what is a trial to you may not necessarily be anything to another person. To you it may be as big as being childless, to another it may be as small as being hungry. God knows what His target it. It doesn’t matter how big or how small it is, it becomes a true trial if touches/disturbs your Flesh.
In Deut. 8:3 he said I made you go through all these; …to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD).
Most times, our “no go areas” if what God invades. There’s always a secret place/thing dat we’ve not truly surrendered to God, its like “Lord I can do anything for you, but don’t go there” it maybe anything, it may be dat you’re being too intelligent for God, or you’re being too conservative, being too organised, or being too disorganised, being too wise, or being cowardice, being too outspoken or being too quiet, being over confidence or being fearful, and so on, until every. thought and imagination is subject to the authority of the Spirit! Until none is of you, and all is of God. That is the purpose behind our trials, & it becomes easier when we quickly yield to God, this is when He supplies us with joy, comfort, and strength to carry on. Every Trial is God’s way of marking us for himself. Show me a true & tough soldier, he has the “scar” to show for it!
