“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” <b(Romans 14:17).
Hello, good morning to you. We’ve been looking at the concept of joy in relation to our life and our walk of faith, and we’ve realised by the word of God that the strength of our life is the ‘joy of the Lord’.
Joy is very necessary for us to have, and not just to have it but to have it in its fullness. There is no place to have joy in this world except in the presence of the Lord, so, the scripture reminds us that “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16:11). Therefore we need to seek to always be in the presence of the Lord.
Somehow, our series on prayer and this are related because prayer brings us always to the presence of God. When we pray(build consistent and continued relationship with God), we will always be filled with joy, for no man comes to God’s presence without being filled with joy.
The world cannot define joy. The world doesn’t know joy. The best the world can guarantee is a momentary happiness built on external factors, and once th externalities are taken away, sadness comes in. Money can’t give joy, good job cannot guarantee sustained joy, achievements cannot give joy(when any task is achieved, the motivation drops)….
So, nothing in this world can give joy and that’s why people engage in alcoholism and womanizing so as to derive pleasure and momentary joy. There’s a lot of frustration out there. After the merriment, a void is still left unfilled, so they go back home empty and sad.
Only God can give joy and we can consistently fellowship with the Joy of the Lord by abiding in His presence. So Paul writes, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17).
To rejoice always, you must learn to pray without ceasing. It means always labour to be in the presence of the Lord that your joy may be full. God bless you.
