“Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.” (Song of Solomon 8:7).
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:8).
It’s good to talk about love. Love is the basis for our salvation. We will never talk about salvation without talking of love. The entire salvation story is a love story between God and man.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
When we preach in church about love, we usually limit it to people to people and we say so many things about love forgetting that it is also applicable to God. All the qualities of love as expounded in 1 Cor. 13, God also fulfils.
Many waters cannot quench love. ‘Waters’ here relate to instability. Water typifies instability between the relating entities, and to shock you, many instabilities cannot quench love. Love endures. Love suffers long. The same way God expects us to show love in a resolute manner irrespective of the inconsistency of the beneficiary, He also shows love to us like that.
You cannot give enough or excess in love. In love, sacrifice is needed. And the sacrifice doesn’t end with things, it requires life also and that’s why God gave His son’s life because of Love. God is resolute to do all He can to save man. He’s done all He can already, giving His son and even His Spirit to guide us in all our ways.
God is love. He loves till death. And since God cannot die, His love is never ending. It is an endless love. Show some love to that dying sinner. Tell him about God’s love and don’t lay condemnation on him.
